It was a fight for my breakfast survivalShe landed on my plate! Twice![]()
Well now I seem to recall having multiple bagels, and toast stolen, my lunch destroyed many times….. that’s why I don’t eat in front of them anymore! She landed on my plate! Twice![]()
If there's no food or water in with them, please report to Aspca and/or Humane society.
She is rightfully looking out for hers - she wanted more food for her littles - it was good, why not get more?I was attacked again. Mama hen wanted what was in my plate, so she flew across the room and landed on the plate I was holding. I shewed her off, but then she jumped right back up onto it. It was only the scrambled eggs that I made earlier.
What am I supposed to do? She’s out of control
Rebecca. Have you tried hiring a body gaurd or getting a fully covering body armour.I thought I would try a new method today of taming the turkey as gentling her in the coop is clearly not working. First I spent a good 15 minutes just trying to corner her to catch her and got hit from behind once by Davy in the process. Davy did not mean business as it was a gentle hit but he was definitely not happy with me. I then carried her screaming bloody murder inside. I sat on my bed with her for a good 5 minutes before she calmed down and quit trying to escape. I tried crop massages, she bit at me. I offered food, mostly ignored. She did eat one piece of bread, after she tried to take off my finger. I did get her calm enough for a few pictures. She actually let me pet her with her standing still and not trying to get away. I did not push my luck after a minute or two of petting. I then carried her back out to the coop with the bread and released her and made sure she got her fair share of the treat. I wanted to end it on a good note. On my days off this just may be what I will have to do daily for a bit to tame her. If this does not work I do not know what else to try to gentle her. I am not going to ask for her to become a lap chicken, I do not see that in her future. I would like to be able to handle her without her freaking out or trying to murder me.

She can give the Queen Aurora a run for her money in the glaring department.

Clearly she is not impressed with my offering. Fingers are more to her liking.

Must be related to Mr P hahaha. That’s what I did with him, just kept handling him to desensitize him. I can now handle him without his screaming down the neighbourhood! I still have to chase him down during the day if I need to do something with him, but at roosting time I can get hold of him no problems.I thought I would try a new method today of taming the turkey as gentling her in the coop is clearly not working.
