My co-worker called to check on me and give me a current chick update.

9 have hatched so far. 5 blue, 4 black and one crazy looking black and red chick. Yup, that is a partridge chick. The remaining 6 eggs are rocking and rolling and have at least internally pipped so crossing fingers for her.

Now...I need to go have a conversation with my eggs. You all want to hatch out blue, it is very possible little ones. Lots and lots of blue chicks please.
When are they due?

And lots of photos tell your coworker- I am living vicariously through all of you!

None of the pictures I posted for reference on Porcelain D’Uccles are of Angel. They were examples I found on the internet. Yea she has feathered feet. Here are some more pics of Angel from today. Including one of her showing off that she knows how to fly

She is 3 weeks old now.

I got her and the two gold-laced chicks from Murdoch’s, not TSC. No clue where they get theirs from, I need to ask. They gave them two me because I drove 40 minutes to get some silkies (“we have a whole bin full of bantams and lots of silkies”). They had 7 bantams and no silkies. :rant
Angel really does have the lavender color going. What a darling!

I'd like to see more pics of the laced birds. If I recall Sebrights correctly, they're "hen feathered" meaning they don't get the pointy hackle and saddle feathers nor the larger tail feathers of other breeds roos. (If I'm NOT recalling correctly, then it's a different bantam breed that does that).

Irritating the feed store told you that they had silkies....unless they sold most between the call and your arrival.

Mine have exactly 7 days left to go.

I am honestly thrilled that she has gotten so many blue ones. She did the test hatch for me as I was not ready at the time these needed to be set. She was hoping for at least 1 of every color and a good hatch. These are not just for her, they are for her grandbabies.

Having heard the numbers and knowing that blue is in fact a possibility I'm really crossing my fingers for my chicks. That being said I am hoping for a good hatch. I miss having chicks around.

Angel is so sweet. 💓 I'd have walked a hundred miles just for her

I love watching them do chicken things!

Ground stapling sounds like a good security measure for keeping things out as well. My green netting sagged/stretched misshapen in our brutal SoCalif sun ☹️ Good thing it was only temporary. Our permanent wire deer fencing is sturdier but still bends too easily.

I could sit there and watch them all day ❤️. What a sweet feathered little community

Something is wrong with Felicitas. I think she may have been skipping eating, as far as I've seen she is drinking and pooping normally.

Ugh. I shook myself out of my laziness and did some work in the yard. Mainly around improving the chicken environment.
The result of this? I have blood running down my arms (mine not chicken blood) and I am covered in ticks.

I am thinking you need those Guinea hens!

I had 2 pulled today. The one that broke and another one on the opposite side that was in danger of breaking the same way. The broken one gave the dentist fits. Of course a piece of one of the roots broke off and had to be drilled out.

I am sore, but, it is tolerable with a ice pack and the pain meds. I mean I am hurting, but this is a different kind of hurt. It is not the drive you crazy and in tears hurt that I've dealt with off and on since it broke.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel now and I am looking forward to being able to eat again. I've been on sort of a crash starvation diet surviving on scrambled eggs, yogurt and oatmeal. I have dropped 6lbs in 2 1/2 weeks. I know I need to loose a few pounds, I have been working on it slowly before the tooth broke. This crash course dieting is for the birds.
Thankfully you are officially on the menu. :hugs :hugs :hugs
