I mix with caster or sunflower oil. I'm trying not to overdo the flea and tick spot on
https://healingfursouls.com/flea-and-tick-spray/
I have just found this mix for ticks a fleas.
What do you think?
The site is balanced and seems to have some sensible advice.
I may try their second recipe for my hair - as @rural mouse says, the whole distilled water thing is a bit of a red flag (vs a carrier oil).
I would still worry about safety with dogs but they are using very small amounts.

Hmm...just thinking out loud...List Holly & Jolly together so Jolly isn't placed cold turkey alone plus Holly might miss him & Georgie is her only closest relative. Mr P is so laid back Jolly (or Clyde) might be your stronger flock protectors in the long run? Silkie boys are incredible plus he's a non-frizzle for mating your frizzle girls. My ONLY regret about a Silkie roo is their crowing so I'm prohibited from keeping one 🙁My Violet was never the same when we had to give Trumpet back. I don't know what was worse ~ seeing Trumpet's confusion taken away or Violet's loneliness figuring out which non-Silkie hen to pair up with ~ we had to get another same age Silkie pullet for her to pair up with. Silkies are a real stick-together kind of breed.

Violet w/ a new pullet "Mini" ~ it wasn't a close bond like w/ Trumpet but Violet & Mini were always toodling together~ it's been a Silkie thing for us to note over the yrs.

Luckily Holly seems to prefer hanging out with last years pullets, and for some reason Blanche and Sophia. Jolly has been scraping with some of the hens, he feels Georgie and Mrs LC are his girls.

I won’t hatch eggs. It’s too hard to get rid of Roos, I will have only get pullets from here on if I need to replace any. My neighbour up the road has lovely silver laced Polish and I would love a couple pullets but I daren’t risk getting more Roos her chicks are straight run.

At any rate my chances of rehoming him anytime soon are extremely slim, silkies are thick on the ground here, and most want hens not Roos. So in the meantime he can stay with Mr P and the other silkies until he can find a flock of his own.

I think I will put in pole beans and tomatoes maybe some lettuce this year at the barn. Fence it off from the chooks.
The birds are easy to net or fence off...it's the insects that ruin lettuce or other leafy veg's. I used container pots to plant radishes or lettuce or red chard then used bamboo stakes to secure very fine bridal tulle netting over the veggies in the container pots. Otherwise the insects would've eaten 'em all if I used an in-ground raised garden bed for leafy greens!

DH planted his precious chili peppers in containers at a level the Sikkies can't reach & the old Dom "Dana" is too old & heavy to jump up any more.

I haven’t planted tomatoes since I first brought the chickens here. They ate 4 plants, fruit, leaves stems and all! Just left me with the stalks hahaha brats!

Then they cleaned up my Petunia hanging baskets when I took them down to water - brats!

Heaven knows what they will do to pole beans tender shoots! And lettuce will be a real treat hahaha.

The hard part of hatching and straight run chicks.

♥️
Even though Silkies are listed w/ the APA as medium birds the chicks are still too tiny to do traditional vent sexing like w/ regular size chick breeds. I never understood why Silkies were listed in the APA & were never entered in the Bantam Assn(ABA) since they rarely get past 2-1/2 lbs? However, I have noticed some extremely rare standard size breeds are sold by private or hatchery breeders only straight run too because of their rarity.

In the UK they do have standard sized silkie. I always wondered why they didn’t have those here.

Silkies are prolific here too. It's easier to find Silkie breeders here than any other breed. Just ran into another physical therapist today who's best friend just acquired 5 new Silkies in different colors & she was showing pictures. Then my DH also had to whip out his cell & show her our 5 Silkies!

That’s so cute and funny - like showing off your kids
