This evening will be lockdown for my eggs! I am going to try the egg carton hatch method again, it keeps the mess contained and prevents the chicks from rolling each other over as they hatch.

That said, say a prayer if you feel led to...my allergic hives are back and worse than before so I'll be heading into urgent care to see what they think. All this push to natural ingredients has companies using citrus in everything which I am highly allergic to. Yuck

Kiddo and Marble last night. He does not pay her much attention, he trusts the fence will keep everyone safe.

Lots of wattles in this image, but none of them want wattle rubs
Sorry about the hives. Hope you can get something to calm them down.

:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpyThe first chick has hatched!! It hatched around 8 am. It is a very strong and robust chick. When I shined the light on it a few minutes ago it stood straight up and loudly voiced it's opinion about the world so far. I suspected when I first saw it still very wet that it did not look black. Mom argued it was black as night. It is partially dry and I was right, the first one out is BLUE!!:yesss::wee. My goodness the relief I felt when I saw those silvery down feathers. I did not realize just how much anticipation, excitement and a little bit of worry had built up since the moment I realized Davy was blue and blue chicks were a possibility. I just hope the rest of the hatch goes smoothly now. The pressure is off I have my blue chick, anymore that hatch are icing on the cake. I am going to mark this one with a tiny zip tie when I remove it from the incubator. This one is mine and not going anywhere.
Um, you may want to hope for another blue. From the sounds of it's reaction - I suspect it is a boy - and I'm not sure you need/want more boys at this point????

BUT...YAY, a blue! That means you are going to get blues (emphasis on the 's') :wee :wee :wee

Chicken down!
The sun came out and she just stretched out her wing and keeled over.

Beautiful picture - should be a heart emoticon response - but the description of her just keeling over is too funny. (Yes, I have seen that too, one time I thought 'on my god, she is having a heart attack'...but, nope....just deciding 'now is a good time to worship the sun'.

It's taken over 2 and a half hours to send princesses feed and a gift to Dean's farm via amazon.

For some reason after years of dealing with Dean's farm wish list, they can't deal with it anymore. Maybe the never could. 🤔

Wake up amazon your lack of helpfulness is very bad for business.

I for one owe this charity big time and won't be ordering their wish list from amazon ever again

You can also always collect the egg an do a gender DNA test - the membrane needs to be intact in the egg. That’s what I did with Bert and Betty.
