When I opened the coop this morning, I found Blanche had passed. She had been up on the roost last night. She had been a little off for a bit, then perked up, then gone. Also reproduction issues: soft shell here and there. She would have been 4 end of the month, along with Cheetah, Nellie, and PITA.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :hugs :hugs :hugs

4 seems so young. They are never with us long enough.

@Ponypoor how are the Robin chicks? I am overwhelmed with curiosity to know if they have fluffy butts yet, or frankly any clothes in at all!
I was going to post later today, unfortunately something got at the nest and they are gone. Maybe a coon or maybe Jays - they take babies.

So I have the empty nest syndrome now 😢

Poor things, and poor mama and papa robin.

See if anyone comes back to use that spot again this season or next year. Might be worth it to build something there, like a birdhouse or a hardware cloth cage, so predators can't get to it so easy!

Well it’s not a great spot too easy for coons to climb up there. I will remove the nest and hopefully they can build one somewhere else more secure.

I've been looking back at their photos to try and assure myself that Nimue and Niamh are actually ladies. They were such beautiful sweet young ladies.

I knew by week two in your photos that your other wee boy was a boy. Just his stance alone gave it away.

Those two look like pullets to me.

Almost 8 weeks old, time does fly:

Chive looking like he has beef with the world 🌎

Porcini - lil miss Mohawk

Chervil - she is suspicious of my every move but she will sit with me so long as I don't dare try and touch her. Boundaries servent boundaries!

Okay, so indulging in some gender guessing. Pebble really looks to be getting a more prominent comb. Silkie experts can you weigh in? Nyx has almost no comb in comparison.
