Dream is starting to get a head poof. :3 she's so cute. These girls do not want to be played with, but I know Leghorns are flighty.

Cleaned the baby brooder today. They're 2 weeks old! View attachment 4130613
Owl judging me for daring to give them thicker shavings this time. Tempted to write an article on this style brooder, it's so easy to clean and the chicks are so happy in here.
Leghorns require patience. They can be great lap chickens but it is on their terms. You have to earn their trust. I have found them to be very smart, curious, and escape artists.

For reference, the term "flighty" is also used to describe Polish.

Be interesting to a leghorn and they will be fascinated by you.

Josephine doesn't sit on my lap that often, but when she stands on it her neck is nearly always in motion at maximum length. I've brought her in perching on my arm and now she sits on my arm.

Ooo thanks for the advice! They don't necessarily fear me, they just have way more things to do than spend time with me. I was able to give chest scritches to two of them this morning when I filled the feed and water. The legbar though, she is scared.

Well done! They can be trained to not fear humans. You've done very good work.
