I wish I could get a good pic of their comb! It is a straight comb with a little horn off to the side, very cute.

She hates being picked up but was happy on my lap, pecking my phone.

Roadrunner has an asymmetrical crest, it droops a bit on her left side. She looks so fashionable.

Edith was on me briefly earlier. She mostly pecks my butt with the other Marans. View attachment 4130856
Navy stepped up onto my arm right after this.

More pretty Periwinkle and her fluffy cheeks and beard

Finally, RedBird.
Close pic....Posy is looking cockerel ish. Another week or 2 and the feathers will speak more clearly. Currently I'm sitting at above 50%, but nowhere close to 100% on that.

Yeah, they're all very pretty birds... but Periwinkle is special🩷. Is her gold collar a Copper Marans gene?

Oh yeah.

Though the most brazenly bad chickens I've had are Welsummers and Dominiques. They just do whatever and hope they don't get caught. Gaby can be caught with lots of effort but she tries to intimidate you with her sheer size and bokking noises into setting her back on the ground.
Wellies, Doms, & Legs, are very smart birds. They figure things out quickly.

I might try the pallet 3-sided A-frame just to see if they use if for shelter or for a lookout perch, and go from there on dust bath or not.
Chickens use low shelters that are not solid walls... at least that's what a video said... it's why chickens like to sit under foliage cuz they can see thru the leaves. Pallet open side slits will give them good visibility too.

When I opened the coop this morning, I found Blanche had passed. She had been up on the roost last night. She had been a little off for a bit, then perked up, then gone. Also reproduction issues: soft shell here and there. She would have been 4 end of the month, along with Cheetah, Nellie, and PITA.

So very sorry... :hugs
