However did we ever live without technology before? In the 1940's when my folks installed their first all-black dial phone it was a shared party line w/ a neighbor ~ one ring meant the call was at the neighbor's house & 2 rings meant the call was for our house... which meant either house could pick up the phone to listen to the other neighbor's conversations! To make a long distance call to the next county involved dialing "O" for a live operator to make the long distance connectionAT&T internet is not working well in my area today. Fact is, only one tower and the four businesses, three private users besides myself only use the darn thing. And it’s such a pain, when they have to maintain it.![]()
