I had to move Hattie out of the main coop nest box again.

Aurora attacked her twice since I moved her out of the coop.

And Hattie then went back into the main coop.

:barnie

She is clearly more stressed by the heat than anyone else.

So I put her in with the Phyllistines. That keeps her seperate from Aurora and prevents her from getting back into main coop nest box with which she seems to be obsessed.

I love this photo of the new roommates.

Beautiful little Hattie
First encounter video. It's long but worth the watch. About halfway through their relationships are established.

As you can see, Hattie still has some spunk left.
She's a champion
I love the way those two look and move at exactly the same time ❤️

They are so inquisitive
They are sleeping together tonight in the Cluckle Hut.

Hopefully this enables Hattie the time to get used to the heat. The Phyllistines will be mixing with the main group later this week. Podoubly as early as Thursday evening so Hattie won't be in with them too long.

Snickers? Oh you mean the chocolate covered peanuts stashed away in the feed bin in the barn? Yummy! Twice a day I remember they are there -
when I feed horses morning and afternoon hahaha.
We use to have picnics here. The best ever chocolate and peanut biscuit treat ever. 😋 They weren't so bad for you either because of the protein in them.

So what did they do? They stopped selling them :(

He's so sweet 💗 . Heads up info ~ You're in Calif like me. Keep an eye out for those mosquitos. Their bites can carry fowl pox in heatwave weather. Keep an eye out for little white spots on face flesh, wattles, or comb on chickens. Catch it early to treat the spots daily w/ ophthalmic triple antibiotic ointment which is safe around eyes (Amazon) before it becomes wet pox in the eyes or trachea. Keep bird isolated during treatment till all spots are completely healed around 2-3 wks. Good news is that once a chicken gets fowl pox they have immunity from pox the rest of their life.

I have a pic of Violet w/ dry pox but she's smeared w/ ointment in the pic. She had spots on her walnut comb/beak & on her ears & face skin.

Finally a chicken illness we can treat and then not worry about for that chicken, what a concept!
