Our birds eat watermelon that way too! They eat even the white parts of the rind after they finish the red part! After all that sugar energy we can watch them bounce off the wall ❣️Better than a boost of electrolytes...
 
The big issue here is the humidity levels - heat is one thing, but when it’s humid it extremely difficult to evaporate moisture to ‘cool down’.

I use fans to help move air, and try to keep them inside as much as possible where it’s a bit cooler. I do put water on the ground to create puddles and that does turn to mud. They like to dig in that. But the big thing I find they like are the brick pavers in the barn. They will lay on those pavers where it’s cool.

Humidity is the big issue. It’s 20C (68f) but my humidity is at 79% it’s very clammy out there, perfect mosquito weather! The H

Or the black plastic snap trap, which I am constantly snapping my hands with!
Use whatever gets the job done, I say...👍 I've lived too long... all pests annoy me‼️

I give them slices including rind that in about 5 seconds, turn into chunks!😍 and then the rind is completely gone in 36-48 hours.

I kinda hate watermelon myself :oops: , but the girls definitely adore it.
