That is a wonderful video.
I hadn’t fully taken on board that there were eggs in the nest. I thought all the eggs were in the incubator.
Smell must be awful.
I was so rooting for that little yellow chick to get back in and when it finally managed the jump it was into the wrong box!
🥰
Those are the eggs with the 2 that didn't make it out of the shell on Sunday. She's feisty enough I wasn't going to fight her for them. Now that she's abandoned the nest, I can (and will) clean it and dispose of the eggs.

Come on, PITA, abandon next door and co-parent the 17....or raise the bulk of them yourself....

looks like 2 more dark ones jumped. Chipmunk was still in coop, so I scooped and returned to PITA.

and it's warm enough for chicks to be fine for a while.

Today turned out to be a surprise for me. I was talking with Elsa and tried to explain her Disney heritage. And that I actually worked at Disneyland upon my retirement. I had mentioned the different venues and she was especially interested in the WD Enchanted Tiki Room. She immediately handed me her resume and asked if those peeps were hiring?
I bet if I had a goldfish she would be asking if there was any room on the Finding Nemo attraction!! Gezzz 🤦‍♂️

I went out and got some pictures of the babies a few minutes ago.

We will start with the silkies. Ignore their waterer and the mud. I just cleaned and filled that thing 2 hours ago. I came back out and they had completely filled it with dirt and shavings. I swear they take after their parents. They have a 3 gallon water, and they do the exact same thing every time I fill it up with clean water. Once I scoop out the mud for the first time they stop throwing dirt and shavings in it. They must just like muddy water.

They are still too young to really begin guessing genders. I will say though I am confident on at least one being a pullet. That would be Bingo the little moorehead partridge. She just screams pullet right now. Calypso has some wild feathering coming in, but, no wattles and a very narrow comb so I'm not worried about her yet either. Honestly no wattles or super wide or obvious combs on any of the silkies so I am still going pullets on all of them right now. They are 8 weeks old today.
