As promised a little Bucky photo shoot. Probably more than you wanted but I was trying to get a clear view of the dark stripe on the top of her head and there was a lot of photobombing going on!
Sorry - lots of pics!

Gosh they are just adorable! So tiny! I forget how wee they are, so today is the day Tassels becomes a Mama - I am very eggcited for her, can't wait to see her out and about with her brood, I bet she will be a wonderful Mama 💘

I am so glad Sophia got to be a Mama in her old age, nothing like watch those Mamas letting their babies hop all over them and snuggling.

Regarding your query a while back about the hay elevator here is what it looks like in action.

The bales are loaded onto the unit and a chain with teeth slide the bales up into the loft where we stack the hay. FYI it was 109F in that loft last month when I was clearing the loft getting ready for this year's hay, that's with NO breeze and a lot of humidity - ugh....

And the hay loft when empty.

The loft is now filled to the roof.

Heaven help me if one of the broody brats ever got up there under those eves and tried to hatch eggs. There would be no way I would ever be able to get to them. Not without hauling all the hay out.
Generations of chickens, clucking and eating and pooping away!

I will explain when I get home tonight and try to have pictures in the morning.

5 broody silkies all at once, 2 nest spots have resulted in at least 1 chick.

I did not have the energy or time this time around to fight the broody hoard known as silkies. I do not know how many eggs they are all fighting over. I do know this morning when I went out to feed a adorable little very light partridge chick poked it's head out at me from between the 2 momma's sharing the bottom box. I grabbed some chick starter and put it in front of the momma's and a small shallow lid of water for it. Raven also has 1 chick as well as of this morning.

I guess there will be big updates tomorrow on the chick front.

How about Spoiled Saturday? 😆

Black diamond watermelon is so sweet and juicy, mmm... The best treat on a hot day!

Glacier update:

View attachment 4193174last of the snow vanished about 2 weeks ago. Based upon yesterday's temps up there, snow could hit any day, making those areas snow free for 2-4ish weeks of the year.View attachment 4193175
Back to steamy hot weather here, it’s 28C with a humidex of 36C

The kiddos are burying themselves in dirt to keep cool.
