I needed fresh air for a bit so I walked outside. Mostly I needed to see for myself that Raven's and the silkie's chicks were ok. Both are doing great. They are each a week old now. I am truly amazed with the silkie's and their co-parenting skills. I never would have dreamed I would have 5 momma's successfully raising 1 chick in harmony. They may not be "real chickens", but they truly are something special.

Silkies must've been very much appreciated/recognized to be listed by the APA along w/ bigger breeds as far back as 1874! Truly remarkable & smart for a little bird. I get tickled (as you do too) when people realize they are so much more than just a ball of fluff .

OMG. Geronimo can get up to the adult roost. Cookie tried but just fell short.
It was so fast I almost missed it. Freeze frame. The red ring is Geronimo flying from the grown-up roost, over the heads of Tassels and the other littles, through the door and down the hill.
If I were Tassels, by this stage I would be resorting to the gun bottle to calm my nerves.
