So here are my thoughts:

Hay storage - YES use that stall for hay storage. There is nothing worse than not being able to get hay.

Temporary electric fencing - YES you know I love electric fencing of any kind. I like my temp poultry netting fence. I have never electrified it, and have had the rabbits chew through it. Little flockers! But I have no plans on powering it up, I don’t run my flock outside unless I am home.

I would go even further and I would use those plastic electric fence posts along with electric twine for the perimeter - zap those predators!

I had a Laverne and Shirley 😊

Shirley turned out to be a Sir Surely 😆

He was a very handsome Roo and very quiet. I do miss him but he has his own Harem now.

But he was very big boy well over 10 lbs way too heavy to have around my petite hens.

Lavern - she a sweetie pie, but holy Dinah if she doesn’t stop escaping….

Where did her neck go?!

Now you see em….

Now you don’t 😉
Fun little party trick! See how quickly they disappear!

However, in the morning I need to figure out something for under the nest. I took a peek at bedtime and saw egg through the wire at the bottom of the nest box. Silly Delft, they'll only incubate on one side if you do that!

Cut a piece of plywood to fit and wad in shavings as a mattress.

Or put a cardboard box in there for her.

We got four new tan eggs today. Two were actually in a nest box!

And two were in the pumpkin patch 🙄

Have to say, I am all chicked out, I didn’t want to have the stress of them this year, but those three broodies were tougher then me!

On the up side, Georgie and Holly took their Noirans up onto the roosting ledge and took over the alcove and all 6 of them are crammed in there snuggled up sleeping. Good! They have learnt to roost!

And Whiskers has her babies in her pen in the small crate I put in for her. Good! They are all snuggled in there.

Everyone is in bed and time for me also.

Bonne nuit mes ami 😊
Wait. How old are the Noirans?

That’s a lovely location, do you get snow in the winter there? Or can your chooks enjoy being outside all the time?
We've been here 40 years. Some years we get snow and some we don't. It's supposed to be mild and wet this winter, which is not unusual, but we'll have to wait and see.
We're surrounded by sand and sagebrush. Took a lot of years to get it like this.

Been here 36 years (on the 29th
Sept), most winters are flipping horrid. Cold and mountains of snow. I hate winter, but what can one do.
:idunno

One must deal with it.
