Is that a recent picture of Princess?
I think this was taken approximately a month ago.
I've been caught up with an abscess as well as other health issues caused by it. Then I had to travel too get dental treatment. So I am not accurate on the time.
In saying the above. She's been doing ever so well as told to me from the head staff there

I'll be sending more things to this vegan farm. As soon as I pay off what I have spent on treatment this past few weeks.
I know we all miss you, none more than you. I'm so happy for her though, all those friends.
Thank you so much Rebecca 💓

Red and Gertrude are just sitting on the outside of the run, spending time with their friends and Riddick. Was it a mistake to move them out? They really want back in with the run-dwellers...
Jenn, I don’t know what to say. Maybe don’t separate them and let chooks be chooks? But in the same breath, I yell at my roosters saying “get off that girl, you haven’t taken her to dinner, or even a movie, so what gives you the right to do that?”

Marie, we are kindred. I have an inoperable growth the size of a baseball on my left kidney. Lab tests say it’s not cancer, only a cyst. These little setbacks don’t bother me none

I’m more concerned if I have one of my chooks having bumble foot!

Yeah, if they still want in tonight I'll put them back. And just hope there's a lot of girls in the group heading out there. I really want to keep all 3 of my ranging roosters.

Speaking of, this fella is now named CowSpots

Kiddo took her time deciding on a proper name.

The Dot Dash Crew this evening - I was ridiculously happy to find that they are all now roosting next to Pebble and Nyx. They all crowd around Pebble, it’s hilarious because he clearly doesn’t want them there but they absolutely refuse to be anywhere else. Whats a Roo to do?

I love it... the "Dot Dash Crew"... we love our birds, don't we⁉️ Specially those bantams❣️

Pony Sunday
I came out to pick up fallen peaches to give to the chickens and I heard this strange clicking noise. At first I thought it might be a new part of Tassels’ vocabulary but it sounded more mechanical.
I glanced up and realized it was these guys.
The clicking was their antlers crashing together. The two young ones have grown fast - I have seen them a number of times and they had tiny antlers and were much less bulky. This is the first fight I have seen.

Lovely photo catch! Very good practice fight training w/ each other for later strength during the mating challenges or predator defenses... kittens practice play fighting, dogs do, even chicks ❣️

Ok. So. Let me preface this by saying Esme is 100% fine and normal now.

A couple evenings ago 3 girls came back to the run around 7ish, their normal time. Esme was nowhere to be seen though. I called around for her and shook some treats, nothing. Finally after 20 or so minutes I saw her slowly walking around in the woods, so I went to grab her. As I got closer I noticed she was walking a little funny (almost pigeon footed), seemed weak on her feet, kept stumbling and putting a wing out to steady herself. I went to pick her up and she freaked out a little, but once I had her she was kind of despondent.

I brought her up to the run where she promptly went for the food. Her tail was down, she was unsteady and stumbling as she pecked around but managed to eat as much as she wanted to. Gytha was picking on her though so I took her back out of the run to see her walk around. When I tell you I was so worried... I should have gotten video but it didn't even cross my mind! She almost seemed drunk.

After a few minutes of watching her, I gave her some treats which she eagerly wolfed down and put her straight into the coop. I doubted she'd be able to get in by herself, that's how uncoordinated she was acting.

The next morning I braced myself for the worst, but she was acting 100% back to normal. Only difference was she was still inside the run with the rest of them instead of escaping.

Which brings me to my question: what the heck could have happened? Could she have run/flew into something and stunned herself? Got into some fermented fruit? Jumped by a predator and escaped (no injuries though)?
I haven't read ahead yet... but what kind of backwoods foliage is there to eat... she may have eaten something not necessarily poisonous but mildly toxic to chickens? There are plants that dont kill but can cause illness or discomfort. Hope as I read forward that Esme is still doing ok...
