Set this up for her yesterday. Good luck Delft.

Looks like these pictures worked. Maybe it was a cache clearing thing...

According to the sideways pic thread (where that convo got moved), they implemented a patch. Being as I was one of those affected, here's a vertical 2fer

Now he’s really worried about that henamony, and chick support:

Don’t worry too much about Mr Wyandottey. I said he didn’t need to be responsible for the hatchlings. I would take that burden off his partridge colored shoulders, only one stipulation, that he spends as much time with me as I dictate! He SQUACKED in approval!

I was worrying about trying to weigh the new Buckeyes, it’s not easy getting the tamest hens here to stand in one place reliably. And Shehnai, he’s soooo big even now, very tall. Maybe I’m just not used to looking at a rooster! But he might push the upper limit on Buckeyes when he’s fully grown. Or be a regular Buckeye roo. In any case I don’t think his natural stance will even fit on my kitchen scale!

I’m going to get the setup you and now @RoyalChick have. What size bags are you using? Would I use his height as a gauge to estimate the size I need? I have two or three cloth bags but they vary.

What’s the brand of hanging scale you all have?

This is the scale I got.

In terms of bags I pulled out all the grocery bags and picked one that looked like it might work. The best one turned out to be not a real grocery bag but something I nearly threw out! Some of the grocery bags make a noise when moved around and although one of those looked the best size I thought it might be scary.
I will use a smaller bag for the chicks probably - though Mr.Chips has put on a growth spurt and is now scary tall!

She needed to be with others and was so happy. But she'd always had access to cayenne pepper with me. And that's good for the heart. So you're right, I feel really guilty
Guilt is a natural reaction to death, and I think our rational self looks for reasons to justify the emotional feeling. Be kind to yourself if you can.

At 7 1/2 years, she was one of the luckiest chickens, in my opinion. Remedies will only go so far. How did you get her originally? You had rescues, right?

Know this: You were the angel she needed.

Well said :goodpost:

Could easily have both going on, and that would be a better situation than IL! Here the suspected MG brought bubbly eyes in Hazel, but not much nasal discharge. Thin nasal secretions in others, watery looking. Never a thick mucus. Describe again the mucus? Same on both ends of the chicken?

Initial observations

Respiratory
Visible Symptoms: gasping with beak open

Audible: rattly breathing sounds, and coughing / sneezing. Some watery clear droplets of discharge from nose, eyes appear clear, no discharge.

Feces:
Salmon coloured gelatinous mixed with more solid off white poops.

Smell:
Noted a sweet smell when walking into the feed room.

Temperature:
Felt very hot - lots of heat from her body.

This morning

Gasping almost reduced to zero, a couple of gasping breaths likely from the appearance of me stressing her.

Wheezing seems a bit better, same with coughing.

Poops - didn’t see anything.

Smell - seems lessened this morning.

Temperature:
Doesn’t feel overly hot, seems more normal.

Appears brighter, likely the Tylenol helping there.

Gave sulphatrim and Tylenol, handling her increased her respirations which lead to some gasping. Subsided fast once she was back in her home.

Noted her drinking and pecking around.

The other chick appears ok, will keep an eye on her.

Guarded optimism on my part. Tiny babies can go downhill fast. Which is why I throw everything at them.
