Well, if you think your seeing Saddle feathers, then yes I believe you are. I think you have a lovely cockerel on your hands.
Glad Tundra got named something could go on either gender. And looks like a 4:3 cockerel to pullet ratio. Barring necessary behavioral removals, will put me at 4.5 to 1 hen to roo, I think..... behaviors will dictate the long term outcome.

Well, they are all extremely lovely, so you will have lots of eye candy to look at. Hopefully they all behave, I think they are all gorgeous.

In fact this is a year for lovely boys it seems, CB and RC have a couple handsome boys, you have lovely boys, Alex has some real eye candy too!

I have small animal traps, good for rats and squirrels.

The zap trap has caught many a rat and mouse too. The only issue is one has to actually put it out for it to work.

And that requires dementia (good grief! Autocorrect gone mad! I meant) remembering to do so…. When I first got it a couple yrs ago I was getting a couple a night. But it was new and a novel thing so I wouldn’t forget to put it out.

And dare not forget to remove it in the morning- don’t want to zaps chook 😳
I pray you can get some decent rest soon🙏

I wish rodents weren't so destructive chewing cuz they're kinda cute but unfortunately the non-pet wild ones carry fleas, ticks, viruses, & some are so huge they can maim/kill chickens/chicks. W/ 300+ rat species around the world they can be tiny species to huge species chonkers! I also learned a lot watching the various Mink Man youtube video's on how his trained mink & dogs work in tandem to catch vermin.

Do you need me to remind you to set your traps every night 😊?

Went out for a photo op....wind, occasional mist (not even that much) and sitting at about 50⁰F (10⁰C). Adults (some of them) were willing to pose. Chicklets... not so much. Only pics of Tundra I could get that were NOT of a backside, without the tail pop.

that's Hawthorne along side.

I love this. They are growing up on you. I also have several geese in disguise at the moment.

Has Mr. Chips attempted his first crow yet? You are in for both a treat, and a shock when he does and will have the camera's to catch it.

He will literally sound like someone is trying to strangle him when he lets that first one loose. He will sound so pitiful and probably scare the girls when it happens. Now he may figure it all out and have a nice crow in a few days, or he could take a week or longer sounding like he is dying but he will get there.

Homer, bless him, he has been going at it for over a week now, in the mornings. He still has a frog in his throat. I have yet to catch either Juice or Q attempting a crow yet.
No sign of a crow, or even a honk yet. He just peep-peeps.
It is Geronimo who honks.
They are 11 weeks old tomorrow.
Any day now? Or will he honk before he crows?

They just don't look mean no matter what you say.
I know, huh! Looks are deceiving ~ We thought Silkies would be timid delicate little wallflowers... but trust me... they are ALL chicken & even moreso than some bigger breeds we've had.

It really says something when one has a breed impressive enough to get more again like RebeccaBoyd. Anyone who gets Silkies will be surprised how industrious & useful they are... plus they've been our only breed to lay thru all 4 seasons of the year.

What's impressive about Ponypoor's Silkies is how clean & bright her white ones maintain themselves & how Clyde the Brave fought w/ a hawk! When a hawk alarm goes out our Silkies disappear faster than the Dominique who freezes & hugs my leg instead :idunno.

We discovered they aren't ornaments... they are useful little garden mates w/ great compatibility 💕

Heard squawking and saw Shehnai was balancing on a pullet yesterday. There’s been helping but haven’t seen himgo that far before. Maybe their hormones are starting up? They are 20 weeks old tomorrow.

Working hard on excavating for the second coop further away, run still not finished but DH was available. RC, what, me calm? The great weather and worry about winter approaching had me leaving a classical guitar symposium early yesterday to get back to work here. Worked way past sunset, good amount got done. @RoyalChick
It'll be a rewarding accomplishment!

Fluffy is boss hen here these days, even Raven gives way to her.
Silkies are definitely not pushovers. Just cuz they can move fast & smart to get out of the way to avoid conflict, it doesn't mean they won't defend themselves or try to be alpha just like any other breed.

Ginny the Snot who will probably be alpha once old Dana passes. She's as big as a cat & doesn't even bother to hide when the neighborhood feral strolls past her.

Did you
The big rat could be a pregnant one & hungry for nourishment. Hope you can catch it. Sounds like you have more than one rat ~ not surprising ~ they can breed as young as 3 months old. Weird that it's in a stall? Probably scoping out the territory discovering droppings from the other rat you video'd.

Wish I could loan you one of our Kensizer's just to see if it would work capturing your particular species of rat. They have such sensitive ears I'm thinking they may be put off by the energy emitting from your zapper battery. We can't sense energy but they have a super 6th sense.
Comes in 2 sizes... we got the smaller one to trap a little squirrel & were surprised when it caught a rat instead. It's been set out for rats all the time now. Some weeks nothing & other weeks anywhere from 1 to 3 rats.

check the rafters for talking spiders, or webs with words spelled correctly? 🤔
