It shocked me. I could hear the sound and had to go see what she was doing.

Smart bird! Chickens are very clever.

Those two wee ones were bought home know where to go for bed time.
I have been very strict about keeping
them off BeakBook. Don’t want them getting ideas about the house now!

As it is the feedroom/office is now their domain it seems! Hahaha. They wait at the screen for me to let them in, then I lift them up to their crate.

Poor Clyde, he is not feeling well again. Poor fella, he is back to wheezing and coughing/sneezing. I went ahead and dosed him with some prednisone and also back on the Tylosin. I wish I could get these guys vaccinated for MG. It would make their lives much easier (mine also!).
Once a bird is a carrier already is it too late for vaccinating? I just can't keep up w/ all the vaccine info.

There's a vaccine for Fowl Pox but it has to be given before the bird ever has it. My vet won't do it. It's a live vaccine & contagious if not done right & could possibly infect a whole flock :idunno Our vet said the better step is not risk the alive vaccine skin pricks & just treat the pox w/ antibiotic ointment for a couple weeks & then the bird will be immune for the rest of its life. Our Dana, Ginny, & Suzu had pox a few yrs ago. The 3 newest Silkies haven't yet & hope they never do. Our mosquitos can carry the virus in their bites☹️.

Violet back in 2017 when we treated her pox... the white pimples on her comb, beak, face, ears are treated w/ ophthalmic ointment.

I'm definitely leaning towards she ate something she shouldn't have. What i couldn't tell you. No one else has eaten it and the yard has had the same plants in it ever since we got chickens.
Just never know :idunno

Weed seeds blow in from the winds, fly in the air from neighborhood gardeners who use leaf blowers, our Santa Ana Winds blow everything into our front /backyards. We've had everything blow in... except maybe a cow (Wizard of Oz).

Not knowing what's toxic or not we solved our weed problem w/ paver stone yards cuz keeping up a safe neat lawn is impossible here.

Awww poor Violet. Glad you treated her.

The MG vac can be given after infection to control future outbreak severity. And has been shown to reduce and even eliminate trachea and lung lesions. Rather like us getting a flu shot to reduce to severity of the flu, esp important if one has asthma (or other health issues).

Shingles for Hoomans also is like
That, won’t get rid of that chicken pox virus in you, but will reduce severity of shingles one can get when older. Trust me - had shingles on my face. Like crawling ants on fire. 6 weeks of that…. Now there is a regularly vax one can get over 50. Of course kids now are vax for chicken pox - when I got shingles I called my cousin and asked her ‘so you want your kids to have chicken pox this summer and get over it before school?’ Her reply was ‘kids don’t get chickens pox anymore, there’s a vax for that’ !!! What ? No more excruciating fever itching pain with pox marks all over your body where mum told you stop picking at that it will leave a scar! Hahahaha -
My nieghbour got chicken pox when she was pregnant 😢 baby was affected and has all sorts of issues. Sad 😢 but who knew 30 odd yrs ago.

Ok I being made itchy just thinking of this hahahaha

Here’s my tax!

Clyde and that’s Muffy beside him and the black hen is Dorothy.

Is MG mycoplasma? Marek's? Sorry for my ignorance. Did you have it in your flock?
