Once a bird is a carrier already is it too late for vaccinating? I just can't keep up w/ all the vaccine info.
There's a vaccine for Fowl Pox but it has to be given before the bird ever has it. My vet won't do it. It's a live vaccine & contagious if not done right & could possibly infect a whole flock

Our vet said the better step is not risk the alive vaccine skin pricks & just treat the pox w/ antibiotic ointment for a couple weeks & then the bird will be immune for the rest of its life. Our Dana, Ginny, & Suzu had pox a few yrs ago. The 3 newest Silkies haven't yet & hope they never do. Our mosquitos can carry the virus in their bites

.
Violet back in 2017 when we treated her pox... the white pimples on her comb, beak, face, ears are treated w/ ophthalmic ointment.
