I’m not sure if I hate my chicks or my ag teacher. I think I’m leaning towards my ag teacher.
A student decided to put her two barred rock pullets in with my three chicks. Like, hello? Just not going to even ask if it’s okay?
My guess is that the student asked my ag teacher, and she said that it’s fine. My issue is that she didn’t even ask my friend or me if it’s okay.
I told the girl that we are going to start building a new coop soon, and that my chickens will be in that coop. I also told her that Taffy was sick and that it might not be the best idea for her chicks to be in the coop.
I have no issue with the girl at all, and I know her sister, but she doesn’t know anything about chickens.
Well, my chicks are being standoffish towards hers, and she threatened to throw mine into the chicken wire. I had to pause what I was doing and stare at her for a moment. She was joking, and I could tell, but that rubbed me the wrong way.
Her chicks are also chasing mine away from the food and water, which is an issue. My friend made sure that they got food and water earlier, but I am still furious.
I’m going to school tomorrow in the afternoon to give Taffy her medicine and make sure they have food and water, and if those barred rocks mess with my chicks, I am going to cause problems with my ag teacher. I will tell her straight up that my friend and I don’t want other chickens in with our show chickens, and that we want this girl to take her chicks back home, at least until we get our coop built.
Ugh, my chicks are just causing me and my friend so much stress. I love them to death, but omg they are putting so much stress onto me while I am already stressing about my grades.

Not sure if I mentioned, but I got my AP government grade up to an 80 the other day. And my English grade was a 90 for 20 minutes and then went back down to an 89.

Probably not, though antibiotics can be tough on a body, but you risk making whatever bacteria there are around and about resistant to the drug. What that means is that it may be ineffective against future infections.
Best just to treat the sick.
Alright, sounds good. I’m pretty sure my guinea hen became resistant to whatever medicine this is. The first time she got coccidiosis, the vet prescribed this and it worked great. The second time, it didn’t work at all and she passed away. I used it exactly as I was told too.

Put locks on your cages/runs/coops/nestboxes ...it's a free-for-all if you don't. It's like putting your lunch in the work fridge only to find it missing later... or a bite taken out of your sandwich & thrown back half-eaten. People are worse than animals sometimes.

It is not coccidicidal (kill coccidia) it is coccidiastatic. It prevents the coccidia from replicating by inhibiting the coccidia's ability to produce folic acid. Without folic acid the coccidia cannot make DNA. This freezes the number of coccidia and enables the chicken's immune system to clear the infestation.

I was cleaning the coops while the gang was trying to go to bed last night, sorry guys! I changed out the poop trays to the winter ones without screens, it got quite cold last night. I also put on their coop warmer, thinking the sudden change in cold was not great for them, it had been in the low 20's F (-6.6C) and went drastically and quickly to -2F (-19C) in a few hours. The size of the Pro coop made it just maintain slightly above that, no more than ten degrees, for them.

Anyway it was interesting to see Shehnai again checking out the nestboxes with the ladies watching him! He went into the middle one and started scratching around in there, then turned and sat down in it, facing out. The ladies watched this pretty closely. You can barely see him here...View attachment 4261478
So I tried to adjust my camera settings to put on a flash. He started coming out as I got it on, plus the ladies started pecking my phone...

But he decided to remain on mission, turned and went back in. Everybody followed his lead, except now I think they figured this is where he's decided they should sleep, so they all sat down near him too.

After that I saw by camera he went to his usual spot in front of the pop door to wait for closing, and everybody arranged themselves as they have been lately, in a row more or less. Last night with the extreme cold they formed themselves into a close bunch at the nestbox end.

Wow!

Don’t forget I also have tiny Piglet and Pooh who is only a few ounces bigger.
Sigh... yes, but both crested/feathered feet on the same breed are the gentlest of creatures IMO... not all crested-only breeds are as gentle as the crested/feathered sweeties. Can you tell I love the gentlest breeds? After 15 yrs this bunch of 4 will be our last & not be able to have any more.

I have to say Cookie goes around challenging much bigger chickens. Maybe she will settle down to being gentle, but right now I would say she is a bit of a wild child!
