I keep Flopsy's crate in the Summer House with Mr P and his girls, I put their food and water near the crate so everyone could see each other. It was sweet to see them all roosting near the crate door with Flopsy, once she was moving without limping I let her out for a few minutes when I fed and cleaned the crate, but kept her in there when I wasn't around. After a couple weeks of that I let her out with Mr P - but I had to be very careful of him wanting to breed her - I didn't want her hip to be injured again. I did this on a weekend when I knew I would be around all the time to check in on her.

All told it was about 10 weeks total.
So you think I should be fine to put the cage in the coop? She’s on my porch right now. It’s been really cold here the past few days and won’t warm up for a while, so I won’t put the cage out when it’s cold.
Should I redo her splint? Or leave it alone?

Oliver hasn't come back for weeks.
He must have died.
I searched everywhere for him.

I'm absolutely broken to have lost him. He was so sweet to Tim and my other cat before he died.
Thanks to workmen and a cat that attacked 6 animals, he must have felt he had no chance here.

I was working towards catching him. Plus a rescue lady was on standby to help me.

That vile cat sliced Amori's eye out. But thank goodness he's be rescued and adopted. Thanks to another ladys intervention.

Oliver helped 4 in all. Two kittens Amori and my Timothy.

As for the 💩 cat. I have done my best to scare him off from my place. He sprayed Olivers cozy den after i spent hours fixing it up my neighbour fixed the window
That's the last time I saw Oliver . A few day's ago. I trapped the 💩 in that den for a couple of hours, sprayed him with my hose pipe after letting him go and Nancy gave him a good barking at.

I've now blocked the door of this second den. So he can't get in again.

He terrorised Tina, but found his match with Princess. Oliver kept him from attacking me. I hope that I am wrong and Oliver turns up again 😔 😕

I’m so sorry. That’s awful :hugs :hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

I learned to drive a stick in my twenties. As a biking enthusiast I grasped the concept of engine speed and clutch right away when DH explained it in those terms….pedaling versus coasting and re-engaging the chain by matching the speed of the wheels/engine….
Tax - this white spot on Diane's eye skin - the lore? - has been there a couple days. Close up it is raised like a pimple. Doesn't look like lice but could it be? Will try to get a better look tomorrow. Notice her wattle looks like she got urates on it. A spot of something like that?

My father has a huge Honda Goldwing and later years a smaller bike just to boot around back and forth to work (around the corner). He sold the bike to a guy who was a pilot and flew with Air Canada, they got talking and he invited my dad along one evening with him and his buddies who all 4 owned a small plane they used for personal use. They were out practicing night flights in the small plane and ended up letting my Dad do all the flying, take-offs and landing at night!

It was the highlight of the year for my Dad and I was forever grateful to those guys as my Dad passed away the following May. I wish I could meet those guys some day and thank them for such a wonderful gift to my Dad. My Dad had a knack for driving, flying, heavy equipment/cranes, boats...

RE: white pimple - I have seen those on my chooks too and always just assumed it was Fowl Pox (which is so endemic world wide), I would cleans with Virox wipes and then put some polysporin ointment on it. Never went any further than a small pimple which dried up after a few weeks.

Moving about Tax

I need to do something with Mr P's topknot/head, I am sick and tired of the girls pecking his head making it bleed. The BlueKote spray not longer works. I don't want to put those blinders on the hens, they need to fly about.

Fowl pox starts like that here & we isolate the bird from the flock... we have ophthalmic antibiotic ointment from the vet to immediately start dabbing the white spots as they pop up on face, comb or wattles. Not saying that's what Diane has but if you have a safe eye antibiotic it may help whatever she has?

I'll look into that. I have Terramycin still. Is that what you mean?

OK I began reading about fowl pox, not done yet. If that's what this is, it's dry pox, and both dry and wet pox are viral not bacterial. Unless the spots get infected, like with a secondary bacterial infection, Terramycin or any antibiotic dab is not appropriate or effective. Betadine can help care for individual lesions. Wet pox could be problematic, an interior infection to watch carefully, but I don't think I'm seeing any of that yet, will monitor.

Quarantine also is not likely going to lessen any spread as everyone in the Bigs has surely been exposed by now. Less chance with the Youngin's but still I think one has to assume everybody has been exposed. So it's a matter of monitoring everyone and how well they are coping as they get through it.

I read a gradual exposure can result in an immunity build-up without any outbreak or symptoms developing. Also that there is a vaccine available.

We had a warm spell and mosquito bites could have initiated this.

Cat's are funny creatures - they find a new hooman and then leave them and turn up months later.

A blanket covering the crate at night to help keep drafts out and warmth in works well. Lots of bedding to ensure not sores develop from her laying down a lot.

If her foot feels fine, and there are not wrinkles or folds developing on the bandages then you can leave them. but if you think they have shifted and causing her some pressure sores you can remove and assess. Do you think it is helping her support her leg?

I was referring to a bicycle, not a motorbike, sorry! But that story is wonderful!

Virox wipes would be disinfecting the surface it's wiped on from both viuses and bacteria...is your idea here to help prevent any secondary infection at the site of the pox?

Polysporin would be an antibiotic ointment. Same idea, prevent secondary infection?

Mr. P - poor guy! At this point, do you think the top knot 'doo tie-up would be effective as something so different the hens might not try to pull at it? Maybe he needs the equivalent of a saddle, but for his head.

Peepers can be dangerous physically too, & aren't really a good long-term solution. They put pressure on the nares area and calluses can develop, even so much as blocking a nare. I would think that constant pressure would not be comfortable at all either, prior to reaching physical damage. That being said some people use them without issue. But I would be very hesitant to use them.

Maybe they need a new focus? Something else to put their energies toward? I have an old wooden hemlock plank (non-treated, perfectly natural) that is a snow/wind blocker at a corner where two tarps meet. Installed upright in the Bigs' run. It has become a point of interest for sessions of pecking at it, and they have ended up excavating grooves in it like they are a bunch of woodpeckers!

Eggsactly - Virox is basically a hydrogen peroxide wipe, it helps dry up any nasties. The ointment helps keep surrounding skin protected from drying out and getting any peck wounds. Because we all know that chooks love to peck at anything that might be tasty!

Right Mr P?

I love this photo - poor dude!
