Thanks guys. I haven't seen any snakes lately. I know we have big rat snakes but we usually notice them. I'm wondering if there was a scuffle or something and the eggs got damaged then everyone ate them? The girl was broody was settled in, in the corner of run. I was going to let her get settled with her eggs before I tried to move her. Today she looked like she was done being broody and was out wandering with the flock. It was really rather cold last night. Who knows what happened. I'm not too upset though. They would've been Seramas and I just sold all but a trio of them to cut back.

I am sorry you lost them should have been a trace of shell of something if it was scuffle but the eggs for seramas also very tiny ?

1st candling! I couldn't wait and figured since these are home eggs it wouldn't hurt. Anyway they are 5 days into it now and out of the 27 eggs in the incubator, 20 had definite embryos developing. Nice spiderweb vessels. The rest, all but one were too dark and too early to tell. Only 1 looked empty. I'm so excited! All the green eggs have embryos! Yay!
:wee

couldn’t handle temp swings overnight anymore.....eggs moved inside, recalibration of temp tonight. just candled again and all look viable!! moved my little handicapped silkie into the brooder box with a stuffed animal as well. I nursed him to 7 weeks and kept him in the coop with the others but lows supposed to be in the mid 30’s in next few days and poor little guy cheeps up a storm when all the others are playing or go to the roost and leave him in the cold! i just didn’t have the heart to cull him early on and his development at 7 weeks is about that of a 3 week old. even considering begging rural king to let me purchase 1 chick so he has a friend until eggs hatch! 30 birds and 6 in the bator....what’s the harm in 1 more :)

:barnieI have 2 more Button quail sitting. One only has 3 eggs and I'm not sure if she'll go the distance. The other is in with my first girl that's sitting so she may give up when the first babies hatch (sounds horrible but I'm really hoping she does). She's on 8 eggs and they look a couple of days along. :th I'm still trying to get rid of the last lot of babies!

You sound like me. I found a couple serama hens staying on the nest the last several days. I had removed the rooster from that pen though, so I suspect any eggs are not fertile. There’s a young boy there, and I recently let the older male back in there, so maybe... but I’m hoping not! :D

going up to candle egg in silky land could not find my good candle light
went up to do it couldn't see much but air sac and veining but not even good
enough for photo's came back found BF best light he has lost so now will use it with my egg holder from good plug in candle light as this one of his is better for my dark eggs
