The new babies are very cute!

G’Day from down under marygreene :frow Welcome!

Beautiful babies!!

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share more Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

It's been a while since I visited this forum. Too much has been happening. I skip the non-chicken stuff and get to the point. Of my 6 original Buff Orpingtons chicks, 3 were growing well, 2 were growing okay, and one was failing to thrive. I purchased some Nutri-Drench and have her a shot once, sometimes twice a day. I made a second brooder. The original BOs are in the first brooder. I purchased 4 new chicks to put with the puny one. They were all doing just fine. I put the Nutri-Drench in the drinking water, they have food, grit, heat, ventilation. But here we are a week later and the new small chicks are twice as big as the puny one. She looks okay but she just won't grow. (I should say that one of my favorite books was "The Tin Drum" about a boy named Oscar who refused to grow. Can anyone give advice what to do that does not cost a leg and a wing to help this puny chick? I'm okay of she doesn't make it, but I gotta at least try. Thanks. (If I should be posting this elsewhere, just let me know, thanks.)

When I have runts, I'll add scrambled or hard boiled egg mixed with a spoon full of canned pink salmon or mackerel. The fish is loaded with vitamins and protein. The egg even thought it is low in protein it has the perfect mix of amino acids for a chicken. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Thank you. I have a can of salmon so I'll make the mixture and hope for the best.

A few times today I offered the fish/egg mixture The little runt named Dottie is eating it up! Just gave her the last meal at 9:30 pm and will make a new batch tomorrow morning. Hope she decides to grow soon. Keeping fingers crossed.
