Help I have a chick who is looking a little bad. I have 6 chicks and this is the only chick that is having problems. It wont even get up and lays on his side. He doesnt follow the others and wants to sleep. Wont eat or drink and just yesterday he was fine. I knoticed he had a little red spot or blood on his feathers below his bottom.
Only thing that I dont agree with is the dosing for the powder Corid on the chicken chick page. Everything Ive researched and read, when my chicks had cocci, advises the powder dose to be 1 1/2 tsp/gallon h2o
Ok thanks again. Ive only had chickens for two years but never encountered coccidosis. Well you learn from your mistakes. Thanks again everyone for all the help and support.
Add some electrolytes into the water. Also, is the chick pooping? If there is dried poop covering its vent, this can cause toxicity inside of the chick, which can lead to death.
Try to turn the chick over and if there is anything blocking it's vent, take a wet cloth and try to pick it out. Get the chick dried immediately and put it under the heat lamp to warm up.
