33% is amazing seeing they were shipped and all they went through in shipping and being lost, then Summer taking so long to sit!!!!

At this point with my luck with eggs not going through that I would be thrilled to get 33%. Lol. But good to hear they say for 48+ hours and still did well. I have some arriving tomorrow and in order to have them hatch when I am around I can't set them till Mon!!! So around 72 hrs.... But will only be 7 days or less from when they were laid so hopefully will get some to hatch!
They should still do well. Mama will only lay an egg a day and usually waits until she has a clutch before she seriously, anyway ... so even if you were hatching your own from your own back yard, you'd still have eggs from a day to a week old in one clutch. Somehow, our Magic Mamas can time the whole shebang so that they all hatch around the same day, even if they were laid a week apart. I find that fascinating!
Another thing I find fascinating is how a totally inexperienced first-time mom, especially one as ditzy as my little EE, can hatch out a half-dozen littles and immediately become a Super-Mom. Mother Nature and her instincts are wonderful to watch!

one seller (the one with the splash eggs and the project eggs) dated her eggs for me. Some were laid on the 16th, then 18 on..... So that means a few will be 10-12 days old when I set them. praying they still go great!
I date my eggs, too. Then I can see which ones do not make it, it is usually the older eggs. Though I have successfully hatched eggs that were close to 3 weeks old when they were set, best when under 2 weeks.
Yours should be fine.😊

Final coturnix quail hatch totals
36 set • 27 hatched • 1 quitter • 8 clear

I think that’s pretty good for beginner layers. I used a Borotto Lumia 16 & did a complete dry hatch. We have high relative humidity so mine stayed in the 45-55% range until hatching began. I only had a couple of sticky chicks. They were my last ones that hatched after it spiked to 70%.

I really didn’t expect this good of a hatch rate after multiple power outages. The last being the worst during lockdown & coming home to an 80 degree incubator.

So out of the 9 babies that hatched we sold 7, but they won’t go to new homes until next week. Like to have the Silkies about 5 to 7 days before they leave. Decided to keep this very pale blue one and decided for the first time to see if I can have a broody raise them! Had to keep a second one too so it wouldn’t be a lone chick. Himawari, my white Silkie hen, has been broody for over two months so we thought we’d give it a try and see if she would accept them. She had to have a bath first, of course!
So far, looks like a success! 🥰

They’re only 2 weeks but I’m already able to start banding Roos. The one in the last picture is already starting to grow tiny little spurs too!

Same here 😂 These are from my June 8th hatch. I sold all my quail chicks that hatched last week so now I have more time to play with these babies but I swear I think half are roos 🤦‍♀️

They're so cute and friendly too! I love to sit and watch mine. Whenever I see them spar my heart drops a bit. I've read females do this too, even this young, but my personal experience says otherwise. All part of the fun of hatching your own.

Question about your quail. Do they ever tame down if handled? Apologies if I asked this before. I think I might have asked before but I don't remember the reply.
