I woke up to 2 littles in the bator. 🤞for more. Today is hatch day but we had a power outage over the weekend so I may have some “late” hatchers. Pics 2 & 3 are what I did when I came home to find the power out & incubator at 80 degrees 😂😂 I’m so glad I have a car adapter for the Borotto but hubs said that wasn’t good enough & brought out the gennie 😂

My Little cochin bantam finally gave in after two babies and three days of no more progress. I came home today to her eggs scattered, buried and covered in poo ... and one hysterical hen. Apparently, her two little Nankin babies took to the newfound freedom and went exploring ... right through the bars, off the steps and UNDER the front porch! Have you ever chased teeny, tiny extreeeeeeemely fast babies under a big,100 year old porch? T'aint easy and it definitely t'aint fun!

With order restored and the pen cleaned, I gave in to frustration and removed my other broody, a bantam EE also setting Nankins, from her nest to finally candle her clutch. At this point, I figured I'd be tossing the whole set, but noooooo. The first half, I tossed two duds and put two aside as possible trash. While checking the last six, I stopped to ponder how loud the two babies outside were peeping. That's when I realized that the peeps were coming from one of the eggs on my desk! I picked it up to find a pip that hadn't been there when I originally picked up the egg! Back it went, with all of the remaining eggs, just in case. Last night, we had a new baby!

That makes three out of a set of shipped, lost, roughly handled eggs that I didn't figure had even the slightest chance of survival. I'll check again tonight to see if we get any more. I'm tickled with the three that hatched, but more would sure be nice! I'll try to get pics when DS gets home - my phone takes lousy pictures and my camera is AWOL!

WOW that is amazing!!!!!!!!! did you let them rest before you gave them to your broody's? I haven't had luck with shipped eggs yet (did get 2 to hatch out of my first 12 they just weren't the breed they should have been) . have 2 more boxes of shipped eggs coming Friday so just want to hopefully have SOME hatch!!!!!

I woke up to this chaos this morning. I had 13 hatched when I went to bed. I cannot even count them now 😊

As far as shipped eggs, I had the best luck with them my last hatch (last week) but imo it’s a toss up, you really don’t know how rough usps is with the box while it’s in transit
