Luikse Vechter aka Liege Fighter Thread

Very excited about this thread! I’ll post pics of mine tomorrow. I’ve got 8 luikse vechter and they’re about to be 3 months old. They’re so smart for a chicken it’s kinda scary...and those FEET!! My biggest stag has feet bigger than my grown Wyandotte roosters.

Anyone have any more pics? I might be able to get a pair soon :fl
Are they prone to any genetic issues? I know in Deathlayers they’re super prone to paralysis is there anything I should look out for in this breed?
I have heard from a couple people that you should have low roosts because they have injured their legs from jumping down from perches that were too high.

I wish some liege from another bloodline could be imported for health and color purposes. I’m going to try and breed out any health issues in my line. No apparent issues so far though.

My Liege Fighters that came from my old friends stock from Brussels Belgium.

I have a question about Belgian Liege Fighter hens. I am new with this breed, and I'm really loving, and enjoying them. Definitely my favorite out of all the different chicken breeds I've owned in the past. My question is......Is their anyone out there in the Belgian Liege Fighters community that can tell me if Liege Fighter hens go broody or not. I would rather have my chicks be raised naturally then have to incubate the eggs. And I need to know incase I have to buy an incubator.

Hatched my first LV 3 weeks ago. Not sure of gender but we are hoping for a girl since my daughter named it Baby Black Betty. Definitely one of the sweetest chicks I've hatched so far. Growing like a week and very handleable. Also has people preferences and is able to "fly" for about 5 feet. If I come in and the kids have "her" she will immediately jump and flaps all she's worth to get to me. I'm in love 😍🥰
