Hot climates are inhospitable for chickens?

My Red Productions did fine. I felt bad when they would go in the coop at night and pant. My coop and run are under a line of trees, so they get plenty of shade with spots of sunshine. As long as there is a breeze, the shade is tolerable.

Boomer says he has no issue ignoring Cappy's precious litter boxes. He will just go in a very hard to get to corner instead.


Kitties are OK around the puppy now. Right down to laying in my lap. Of course all 3 have told piddles to tater off.

Can you still get fresh apples? If so I'd go for either apple sauce or butter. I'll steam juice my apples with a couple cinnamon sticks, then take what's left behind and make apple sauce and then butter. If I'm feeling really frogy, I'll make some apple jelly from some of the juice. Aint doin apple syrup ever again.

What happened with your syrup? I love making Apple sauce, &Apple butter yum

What happened with your syrup? I love making Apple sauce, &Apple butter yum

If I ever do get crazy and try it again, I'll use a big lasagna pan for reducing. Took me more than 20 hours of slow simmer to reduce it to syrup. Need more surface area. Had the same issue with tomato paste. Way too much work.

Smuv's if you're really feeling decadent, give Mom's Apple Pie in a Jar a whirl.
