YAY! Fellow redhead! Is your hair curly or straight?

In the 90's (I think I was... 10) my mom told me if I couldn't take care of my hair she would cut it short (she's a hair dresser) even though she didn't like the idea too much. I said sure. Well she gave me.... a fe-mullet. A poofy fe-mullet. My hair has always been curly but when she cut it, the hair close to my head curled up with a vengeance. My mom felt so bad that she took to giving me blowouts on Saturday night before church because I HATED my hair cut when my hair was curled. It took me 2 years to grow it out and 4 to get it all one length to get rid of the horrid bangs.

I've had white hairs as long as I remember (like I remember pulling them out when I was 5 or younger).

I have weird hair... sometimes wavy, sometimes straight. Like, I might have straight hair one day, and then it'll be wavy the next... or wavy in spots... and not the sexy hair spots... or like beach wavy hair.... UGH....

My bio dad had kinky curly hair... I once saw a pic of him with a HUGE red afro... he was NOT a good looking man... yeesh! Bio mom had long, dried spaghetti straight red hair... I mean STRAIGHT!!! She would get a tight perm every month, and it would always end up as very loose curls by the end of the month. Luckily, they both had very thick hair... which is a blessing and a curse. I am never cold, but whenever I get a hair cut, I have to BEG the stylist to thin it out a 2nd time. Most won't do it cause they think my hair can't take it.... mua ha haaaa... it can be thinned out THREE times... and STILL be thick as hell.

Another deal with shaving my head is, I hadn't seen my *natural* hair color since I was 12... I"ve been dyeing my hair for that long.... so, I'm not doing chit to my hair for 1 year (about), and then I'll more than likely start dyeing it again. But it's been fun!

PIC almost got his little arse kicked though. One day last week we were headed to the store. I tossed a sweatshirt on over my jammie sleep shirt and some jammie pants. Tossed on my pink and camo TSC cap... kiddo said *You look like mémère (french for grandmother, my mom). I almost had to slap the crap outta him!! Of course, DH fell out of his chair, laughing....jerkface.....

Good Afternoon Everybody!

Today is a cold, wet, NASTY day here and it is only getting colder. It is supposed to get down to 25 tonight. It started sleeting on the drive home from church and it is supposed to snow a little bit later on, but nothing is supposed to stick, thank goodness. Not that I don't like snow, but I'm not ready for it yet.

My back is feeling a good bit better, but still sore. Thankfully my SIL was able to help me lug the no-so-little munchkin around.

The chickens seem to be fine with this weather. I'm going to have to check all the coops later today to make sure everyone has dry sleeping quarters. I love my broody totes, but the one problem I have with them, is they hold water. I can't have my baby chickies standing on wet pine chips on a 25 degree night even if they have mama to help keep them warm. I think she is getting ready to wean them though. She is being less protective and showing less "broody" behavior (puffing up and "bock, bock"ing constantly). They are 8 weeks old now and are very well feathered out. I think the chicks will do well on their own if she decides to return to the chickshaw with the rest of the hens in the next week or two. She is lasting longer than my previous mama did, but it was warmer weather and I didn't introduce the chicks into the flock until they were 4 weeks old (I moved their run into the paddock with the main flock) and I started letting them loose in the paddock when they were 8-9 weeks old. This time, mama was kept separate but in the paddock with the flock the whole time and I started doing free-ranging introductions around 7-10 days old.
Could you drill a couple holes in the bottom of the totes to keep water from collecting? We do that with our garbage cans. Or is it just the fact that the water gets into the tote to begin with. Maybe make a tent with a tarp and a piece of wood oh, if that's the case.

Gonna be 29 here tonight. I need to hide my chirping chicks in the house where dh won’t hear. Hahaha! Ought to be fun!
Wait, your husband doesn't know you bought chicks?

I try my best to keep up with this discussion and managed to skim a few pages and catch things like "broken dirt" and "various types of manure" and can't seem to weave it all together today.

So pardon the distraction from all these other distractions, but I'm currently sporting a mohawk. Yes, I'm 47 years old and I have problems. I started shaving my hair to 1/2" long about four years ago and LOVE it. Well, the shaver caught on fire yesterday wrestling with my super thick RED hair (mentioning the color so you can imagine a washed up Beaker type person from the Muppets) and the back piece came off and that was that.

Thankfully I remembered to wear a hat when I left the house, and to put your mind at ease, I'm now in the possession of a new shaver and let's just hope I remember to put on the guide so I don't end up clearing cutting what's left of my hair and ending up bald like my husband Mr. Clean.

This is why I'm so glad I live ten minutes from Starbucks. And I'm off and running.
You should just rock the Mohawk for a few days!

Ohhhh they're too cute to end up as breakfast meat
By the time they're breakfast they'll probably be much less endearing.

I feel like your mother should have known that cutting your hair that way wouldn't have worked out well.

Hello again! Whew, you guys post so quickly! What's the latest 2t1l?
You could start it up again if you like. I'm not sure if the last person who won didn't come back to ask questions or if the last person whose turn it was didn't come back to announce the winner, I skipped a lot of pages the past few days. But it is a nice way to get to know the non chicken part of the group.

So what is your natural hair color? I see mine every couple months when my roots grow out and now it's kind of dark brownish with a lot of white hairs. I'm not sure I could handle growing it out and seeing all the grey/ white. It's bad enough when I get in the fluorescent lighting in the restrooms at work and I can see every single white hair reflecting back at me. That's what I know it's time to re-dye my hair.

So you know how they're always saying that you need ventilation in your coop blah blah blah. Well tonight I went to go close the chicken door and it was snowing in my Coop. Apparently the way the wind was blowing, snow was coming right in through one of the side vents. I covered it with plastic, but I couldn't believe that it was just showering down. This after I realized yesterday water from our torrential downpour was coming in the top of the door, which explains why last month the straw was damp, but I attributed It to rain coming in from the side window and the birds shaking off. And I also noticed tonight that 3 of my chickens are we staying on the edge of the poop board instead of on the roost. Apparently they don't appreciate that I removed the second Roost above the nesting boxes. I'm not sure if I'm going to add the roost back or just let them Roost on the edge. But I did get the pulley and rope installed so I can open and close their chicken door from the other side of the coop instead of waiting through a sea of chickens to get to it. So at least one Coop modification is working at this point.

Aw... Oh well! I have strawberry blonde brown hair, since we seem to be on that topic. It's really thick, and I need to get a trim because I daily get FIST. SIZED. SNARLS. But I can't decide what style to get! Right now it's really long, with slight layers, and I'm really proud of myself for growing it out this much, but I feel like something new, too.

I quit coloring my hair since my red haired son grew up and moved out. It is much darker than it was when i was younger and out in the sun all of the time. Not much white yet.
I'm jealous. My white hairs are very noticeable at the temples, but pretty much anywhere along the hairline is getting pretty gray. I feel like I'm too young to have this much gray, but my friends seem to be having the same issue.
