Official Squatch Watchers

Ewh !
I think ducks are adorable.
But unless I lived somewhere huge, with a big pond, I couldn't even consider it.
We have a pond that is maybe 20-50ft, so I could handle a few ducks, but they would have to fend for themselves for the most part. Maybe I could make them a floating island in the middle.

You're not crazy. If I had lots and lots of space I would do that. It would be so much fun to not have any idea what is coming. Go for it!!
Sadly, I'm not going to do it this year. As much as I would like to.

I have too much on my plate already. I need to breed the heck out of my Dark Cornish trio, raise up my LF Cochins, breed some purebreds and hybrids from the stock I already have and decide which breeds I want to keep. I also want to start with LF White Cornish if I can get them, but I don't know if that is happening this year. I also wanted to add a few breeds to create variety in my egg basket, but I just decided to add a few EE pullets to accomplish that rather than getting Marans and Amerucanas. It is a hard reality, but it's what I have to do to not get overwhelmed.

I'm not going to lie, that is crazy as a mofo! Probably going to be all kinds of fun and interesting so it doesn't even matter that its crazy.:)
Please tell me I'm not crazy. I really want to get a Cackle Surprise.

https://www.cacklehatchery.com/hatchery-surprise.html

According to the description, it is 40-50 birds (chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guineas) that is hatchery choice. I would probably request no waterfowl or bantams.

From the reviews, the hatchery frequently sends 50-60 birds.

Sadly, I've resigned myself to waiting until the Milk Drinker is old enough to take this on as a science project (We are going to homeschool). There are lots of cool things he can learn by trying to identify unknown chicken breeds.

Is the freind trim and healthy? Just being nosy lol! :)
Good morning. I am not going back to read anything, so tag me if I need to know something. I am doing some catch housework and reading through my new Trim Healthy Mama books my friend encouraged me to try. Have a great day.

That's ok. I may have seen that at some point. My brain was tickling a little as I typed it.

I was just thinking of options.
Maybe related to the fact that I stopped my car one night right before Christmas on a trash night because there was an opossum in the middle of the road with a big Hardee's cup stuck on her head and she looked so pitiful standing on her hind legs with her little hands trying to get it off and I had to get out of my car and snuck up behind her and took it off. It just looked at me and went on its way.

Ok. Go ahead and throw rocks at me. I'm a wimp.
Same. I felt bad for my little possum.. my dad said he relocated it. IDC what he does w/ it as long as I'm not a part of it. I've seen what appear to be possum tracks by my coop, but not photos b/c my stupid trail camera isn't working.. won't turn on.

If the possum isn’t bothering my birds or my trash can. I probably would have done the same.
Same. They can exist, but not by my chickens.

I bow down to you. I always get mine done after the 6 month extension runs out.

I can't believe you just spent like 300 bucks on a piece of HAM.

( Ham. Dude. What the hell?)

Let's buy some HAM, betches!
Get the tax software. It makes it sooo much easier! They walk you through everything. I've been using it for almost 20 years & never had a problem. They even have a number you can call if you need help. I've been doing the taxes for everyone in my family forever. Did my brother's taxes last night & would have filed if he'd have texted me back. I filed mine last week.

I heard they taste like chicken. :gig

Dear lawd stacey... ain't nobody got time to throw rocks at you. You aren't the ONLY kind/soft hearted person here..... but when I find a PREDATOR in with my chickens and their eggs, ones that are KNOWN to eat eggs, chicks and full grown chickens... and this is after I found a couple of my chickens dead in their coops over the last few weeks....... well, my heart gets a little harder. I love my chickens more than I love some wild animal who is trying to EAT THEM.

Now, if you take a moment to read the post aart left in that thread, you will see WHY relocation isn't a good idea for predators.

I am not actively hunting anything. I am NOT a hunter in any way shape or form... but I will protect what is MINE, what I have INVESTED IN and WHAT I LOVE.......

:hugs love you and your squishy old heart stacey....
And same there too. If something comes after my animals it's my job to protect them, but I'm not going into the woods to kill off everything near us.

It is NOT HAM you uncultured swine....... it is JAMON...

:::: which means ham in Spanish apparently, but don't tell PBM... she can't read this small :::
So if she's cultured swine then would she be jamon?

OK kids... here's the deal. I am NOT a girly girl. I don't *yearn* or *lust after* those new shoes, or hand bag or dress or the like.....

..........and I love food. This year, it is the JAMON.... next year, it might be THIS. Yes, I KNOW I coulda bought an entire damn pig.... but this is my luxury gift to me since DH and I don't *exchange* gifts ever.... and I'm cute enough to buy a SPANISH HAM for.

:tongue

PS. Don't knock it unless you've tried it... and I DO mean the Jamon Serrano. :D
I do this too. A couple years ago I bought my kids a thing.. big one got an ipod touch, little one got a chromebook. Got the good warranty so the little one's chromebook broke & it got replaced w/ an ipod. Then the next year I bought myself and my parents a computer. It's good to get yourself something nice, esp when you have to make adult choices most of the time.

It's like a banana swing, but for ham.

It's a JamOnIt Swing! lol. (OK I'm going back on my meds right now, I swear).
Banana HAMmock?
:barnieI had multi quotes to answer but they are gone.
Wasn't home all day so caught up slowly hiding at work. No idea what I was going to say.

Smuvs for that price a greased up buff guy better come half dressed to cut and serve that ham!

Other then that; Yea 7 eggs again today! My flowers like to lay on the same day. And apparently at the same time cause someone left one at the door for me again. Almost stepped on it.
Not greased up... harder to catch that way.

My OE is the same way. All her eggs are slightly different....some speckled some deep olive some more khaki. Must be an OE thing
My eggers lay different colored eggs too. sometimes dark green, but not olive, and other times so light I can't tell if it's green or blue.

Not frowned upon every where...look

Every afternoon i consider lying down on the floor behind one of the desks in our office. Napping would be nice, but even just to hide would be good sometimes.

I just ordered some achillea millefolium or yarrow to attract butterflies and such stuff this summer and i didn't think about googleing it's chicken friendliness. It's actually beneficial! Poisonous to dang near everything else but good for chickens. Ordered some butterfly weed too just milkweed, but i got yellow and orange. I always put out a butt pile of lantanas and mandevellas. Getting the spring itch bad! :)
Milkweed! Save the Monarchs!!!

Ok....just saw this pic posted on Instagram. Is it just me or is there something odd about this picture?View attachment 1252888
When I first scrolled down I was like GASP! NSFW.. then I realized what it was. You all are going to get me in trouble. (no really... I'm the person who would get someone in trouble for that).

Some people manage it but I personally think they are just to darn small and well flighted.
Those little buggers can really catch some air.

Maybe in a nice big run with lots of branches to hop up on?

I forget who posted it but one of our Squatchers has one in with her big birds.

ETA.... This was for Sammy about Sebrights.
I have one and she does fly really well, esp when she takes off from the perch.. she'll get a good 20 feet out the door. And she's hard to catch too b/c she's so little and quick. But she's beautiful so she's totally worth it.

My ball less doggie.
He killed the possum.
Your dog's name is Cobra?! My brother had a boa named Dog. LOL

Not selling I need to hire a couple guys.
And you were having trouble placing the ad so it didn't sound like your were looking for a date?

There are ponds all over my town. Each one has a resident bunch of ducks. (Geese too this time of year)
For a town of impatient people, one things for sure...
We like the ducks.

At the college when a pair decides on a whacky spot to set their eggs the maintenance guys rope off a perimeter and they put up privacy signs asking the students to lower their voices.

Why did the ducks cross they road? Who knows. Let's watch and find out.

Everybody WAITS !
WAITS with a smile.
WAITS without honking.
WAITS while making eye contact with the other waiting humans.
We had a dippy duck that made a nest in the bushes outside of the Rite Aid in the middle of town. NEAR water, but not BY water... they put up signs so people would leave her alone. Then left her dishes of water. After the eggs hatched someone took them all to their home by the creek.

6 more weeks of winter, off to clinic, oh here's your tea, take care. View attachment 1253275
Anyone have a recipe for ground hog stew?
Ok, but seriously... you're taking him out of his hole SURROUNDED by cameras w/ these huge lights and NO ONE even thinks, hey... these lights might be making the damn shadows. SMH.... morons. Yes, I know it's a tradition & doesn't really mean anything but holy hell... the stupidity.

Good morning. I am not going back to read anything, so tag me if I need to know something. I am doing some catch housework and reading through my new Trim Healthy Mama books my friend encouraged me to try. Have a great day.
Smuv has a possum issues, Kiki doesn't anymore. I think those are the most pressing topics.. Oh and Smuv bought a ridiculously expensive piece of ham.

misty, what time is hubs dr. appt? i will be keeping you in my thoughts. :fl

love to all!!!!

Hey rjohn, coffee and goodies are oon the counter, slow cookers have apple sauce and oatmeal with cinnamon and raisins. There are also some crepes, made my way, so a little thicker and sweeter than normal crepes. Kids love them, and there are some made with almond/coconut milk for those who don't do well with dairy.

I finally finished DD#3's afghan. It's in the wash, she'll get it in s little while after it goes in the dryer. Hopefully she likes it as much as her dogs already do, lol. It's a challenge to crochet with dogs on your lap, leading on top of the project... :barnie
What's with pets and projects? My cats and dogs both love getting into my stuff i work on!

:frowMorning!
I have some proper English tea, or do you want herbal?

Green tea please if you have it :drool

I want to keep. I also want to start with LF White Cornish if I can get them, but I don't know if that is happening this year.

I am supposed to be in line for LF white cornish from a guy south of me.. if that works out I could send some eggs next year... or I can give you his info... right now I just have FB info on him.
