I have some of the thanksgiving hatch that are missing toenails.. I assume frostbite since I don't remember any toe issues.. lots of suicidal issues but no toe... their combs are good

It's a brain scratcher since NONE of the other chicks have any issues at all.... how could it be frostbite... and have taken both feet... but it would be the only one affected by frostbite... out of close to 30 chickens..... plus the stumps are almost like flat balls.... I gotta get pics of it...

You should have seen my leghorns after butcher scraps last fall.

I dumped the stuff I didn't give to the chooks in the woods, figuring the scavengers would clear it out. I guess they didn't like it, because two days later the chooks came running out of the woods playing tag with a piece of neck skin. :hide

Weird. I have had a few birds lose most of their toes when their flockmates were unscathed, but never two whole feet.

My hubby went to some kind of home show, there was a booth set up by some racing pigeon group. They had eggs for sale!! Dummy didn't buy me any, but he did get their card. I'm considering calling them. :pop

I would think you would need the parents to hatch and raise. Squabs need crop milk from their parents for some time. The are a fugly chick when they start to feather. Look and feel like a scrotum.
They are flying rats but mate like rabbits. I’ve tried not to become attached to the ones the landlord keeps (poorly) so maybe my view is tainted.
