Official Squatch Watchers

Too lazy to read all 200+ messages, though I tried.
Chick pics!!! :wee

The ones with fully feathered middle toes are full cochin. The ones with feathers on the outside toe only are cochin/orp crosses. Chipmunk striped chicks are OEGBs.

Absolutely adorable. I love them. The chipmunk ones are just like Willie. Sooooo tiny! We stopped at TSC yesterday and ogled all the babies. BSL, RSL, bboe, barred rocks & cornish crosses, also some little brown ducklings. My kids were begging for babies, but we don't have room for them.

Odin got me twice this weekend. I need to trim his spurs. He's in time out for a while now. IDK what got into him. He'd been doing so well at not being a jerkface. My tiny human thinks we've been letting him out too much & he forgot his place. We'll see what happens. If he keeps it up, while we're out of town this summer he might 'disappear'.

I would think you would need the parents to hatch and raise. Squabs need crop milk from their parents for some time. The are a fugly chick when they start to feather. Look and feel like a scrotum.
They are flying rats but mate like rabbits. I’ve tried not to become attached to the ones the landlord keeps (poorly) so maybe my view is tainted.
They're downright hideous as juvies... but... I have an attachment to ugly stuff so maybe I'd love feeding them at 3 AM. :gig

Here's some cot pictures to fill your daily dose of cute.

It's a brain scratcher since NONE of the other chicks have any issues at all.... how could it be frostbite... and have taken both feet... but it would be the only one affected by frostbite... out of close to 30 chickens..... plus the stumps are almost like flat balls.... I gotta get pics of it...

I have a serama pullet that will eventually lose half her leg. it's black and dead, but hasn't broken off yet :(

I wondered about the milk thing, was still researching, but maybe I'll just forget about it. Not like I need another breed of animal to mess with. :D
and yea, they are pretty hideous at hatch.

:hugs That stinks. I really wanted Seramas but I have enough birds to baby already... so I used my better judgment and put down my credit card. Lol.

I think they need fed like every 2 hours or something. They don’t beg for food when hungry. You just force it on them.

I wondered about not turning of the egg and not going through the hatch. I thought going through the hatch part was important.
