Official Squatch Watchers

I have had a busy day. First thing I did was go out, separate out 5 cockerels and band their 4 sisters. It looks like 2 of the cockerels really went at each other and are bloodied, but they are getting along now.

I canned 9 quarts of applesauce. Yes, I reused pasta sauce jars. It works.

I set up the broody-ish hen with a house and fake eggs. She went right in and tucked them up underneath of her. However, at dark she went into the crate with the other two hens (I need to find a better housing situation for them). I think I'm going to go out in a little and move her into the house with the eggs. I really want to encourage her to go broody. @WVduckchick

I made dinner and just as I was sitting down to eat, I remembered, the horses. I hadn't fed them yet. As I was getting their feed, one of our neighbors stopped by to say that the other neighbor needed a bill of sale so he didn't have to pay extra taxes. So I had to do that and get that to his wife.

On the plus side, look what showed up in my email!

Did you mean to post your address?

My cockerels are going nuts too. Carey and Tank tried to scalp each other today.

To answer PBM, I've not seen her roost.... but she holds her own when another chick comes up on her... she doesn't shy away and will give a hearty PECK to anyone who tries to bully her.....

With that in mind, with only tucking the 5 peeps in to the CP Coop once, last night, they made it in there on their own this evening..... they are all snuggled up together in one of the blue tubs.

We redid the roosts in the main coop, and removed the poop tray, so that ALL of the 22 or so chickies that were in there couldn't all fit..... so now, 19 are snuggled up IN the coop, Fat Bastard is roosting at the door and 2 are roosting in the run. Everyone seems happy... clucking and cooing away!

Good afternoon! Just came home from my next -to-last day at work! GLORIOUS!!

Since I am now a hatchaholic, I have to post this....it's so amazing and I've seen it before, but some of you may not.

I kinda eally want to try this at home!
Imma be doin that with genetically modified button quail eggs! They'll glow in the dark when we're done!!! (Yes, I do consider myself a mad scientist. Why do you ask?)

It's a brain scratcher since NONE of the other chicks have any issues at all.... how could it be frostbite... and have taken both feet... but it would be the only one affected by frostbite... out of close to 30 chickens..... plus the stumps are almost like flat balls.... I gotta get pics of it...
Maybe a coon got her. I had one hen lost half a leg to a coon once. Chicken lived.
