I think they need fed like every 2 hours or something. They don’t beg for food when hungry. You just force it on them.

I wondered about not turning of the egg and not going through the hatch. I thought going through the hatch part was important.

It's so ugly that I want it.

I would think you would need the parents to hatch and raise. Squabs need crop milk from their parents for some time. The are a fugly chick when they start to feather. Look and feel like a scrotum.
They are flying rats but mate like rabbits. I’ve tried not to become attached to the ones the landlord keeps (poorly) so maybe my view is tainted.

When they first hatch they are cute.
Yellow and soft. Their beak is too big for the head so they sorta bobble their little heads around. Eyes bulging and shut tight.
It's when they start to get feathers they turn. But they get pretty again.

I have a little OEGB hen that is missing some toes. It happened before I got her. She gets along and roosts just fine....of course her other foot is normal....

I have had a busy day. First thing I did was go out, separate out 5 cockerels and band their 4 sisters. It looks like 2 of the cockerels really went at each other and are bloodied, but they are getting along now.

I canned 9 quarts of applesauce. Yes, I reused pasta sauce jars. It works.

I set up the broody-ish hen with a house and fake eggs. She went right in and tucked them up underneath of her. However, at dark she went into the crate with the other two hens (I need to find a better housing situation for them). I think I'm going to go out in a little and move her into the house with the eggs. I really want to encourage her to go broody. @WVduckchick

I made dinner and just as I was sitting down to eat, I remembered, the horses. I hadn't fed them yet. As I was getting their feed, one of our neighbors stopped by to say that the other neighbor needed a bill of sale so he didn't have to pay extra taxes. So I had to do that and get that to his wife.

On the plus side, look what showed up in my email!
