It probably broke and she ate it.

Could be hidden up in the wing.

I have heard about other broodies stealing eggs for themselves. Yes, hens can move eggs from one nest to another. They can even move them up ladders and roosts

Could be another hen took it, or possibly a snake...

yep every couple of hatches.. had a couple hatches where there was 1 less chick than hatched egg shells... I assume the eggs broke and the chicks died and were eaten...it's their instinct to clean up so predators are not attracted .. did find a smushed chick buried under the hen one time too.

Thank you guys! Squatchers always come through :love
Bubbles is in a coop by herself, I checked under her wings, and there is no sign of any predator intrusion. I never considered that she might have eaten it! What a clever girl; cleaning up the mess to keep her nest tidy and the other eggs clean and safe :love I have never dealt with a broody before but so far Bubbles has done an amazing job. I am in awe. She sits on that nest tighter than a barnacle—only comes off once a day. Lovingly turns and tucks in her eggs. And (lucky me) she doesn't bite! Just fluffs and growls.

Annnndddd it looks like all her hard work is paying off! ALL of the remaining 9 eggs have wiggly little babies in them :love:love:love
I'm gonna try to get some good pictures next time I candle. I am so excited!!!
:fl things continue to go well!

Does kinda look like she is frizzled.
If so, this is her mom, the only frizzle in that pen.
Her eggs are very similar to the chocolate eggs... sometimes have the little faint purple speckles, so that makes sense. And also explain her small size.

Adorable little baby Rae :love You couldn't have found a cuter little bantam if you tried. Just precious.

And that majestic floof is her mother? Gorgeous girl WV!

That is seriously awesome... however.... reeeeeally before you count #10 egg out, did you do a deep frisk on Bubbles? As previously stated, eggs and even baby chicks have gotten *lost* in mamas coat. Unless, of course, you've seen some sign of an egg that broke.... like a scrap of shell or a sticky area where the white/yolk coulda dried.

Well, my loverly friends, it is with great sadness that I have to pass this information on to you. I hope you won't take it too hard... or be too sad..... although I know I am in great pain and very depressed about this....

So, here it goes....... plastic surgery doctor's nurse called and told me I was wearing the wrong size bra..... I'm not a 42G... I'm a 42J !!!!! 3 SIZES BIGGER THAN I THOUGHT!! So, this proves that they're still growing.....hayZEUS!!!

I couldn't believe it. No friggen way right?!? How can I be a J and STILL not qualify for reduction surgery?!? We ordered a bra in the 42J size and it arrived today. I put it on, adjusted the straps..... and nearly burst into tears cause the tatering thing friggen fit. :hit:he:hit:he:hit:he:hit:he
