Lol! I do the same thing when aunt Flo comes to town.:lau
LOL Chickassan! Silly kids!

I have been saving a funny.......now seems a good time for it.

So Sable is 9 months old now. She went into heat recently.
It appears that this "condition" has caused a few odd changes.

She has to pee lots more, she has to check the yard for bunnies every 9 minutes, and she is sleep walking.

The sleep walking is ok mostly.

A couple nights ago she was barking like something horrible was happening! It was 1am for cripes sake! The big guys were silent.....ok so it cannot be to bad!

I give up on it stopping after 5 minutes. I come down the hall and flip on the bright kitchen light. Ouch at 1am!
She continues to bark and bark not even noticing the light! What the TATER!
I go to her, pat her side which startled her but did not stop the barking!
She is barking at a tennis ball!!!!! Again What the Tater!
It must have been acting shifty or something.

The instant I picked it up she went all happy tail waggy.

What the TATER! I head back to bed thinking that has to be one shifty tennis ball!

I am thinking you are very correct. I don't play with fire.... well, yes I personally DO... but I don't mess with the lives of others... well, yeah I kinda do THAT too.... hell, let's just say I want my livestock and pets safe... heehee

GOOD MORNING. HAPPY HUMP DAI!!

Wanted to show you all the latest in fashion......

I defy someone to show me why this will get modded... :lau

Stace Face, man I tell ya what.... around here 10:41 IS early for me.... I tend to not get much sleep every night...... especially with bug bites on top of a back ache and menopause... at least I am PRAYING it's menopause... I'd hate to be hot and sweaty for nothing.... yeesh.
Hahahahahaha

It's ok, she was weird always nervous always having problems but she was one of my originals so i'm shook. If there is a bright side her passing will make dh much less likely to grumble about the suprise babies. One of those will be named Sallie because Bea was named after my mom and she was Sallie Bea so Bea will live on. Iv'e still got some of her eggs but I dare not hatch them for fear of a repeat Duece.
We've got one headed down the same path. Lethargic and hasn't been laying for the past week. I think it's a reproductive issue. That's the same thing that happened to the other chicken we got from the same place, Jammer. I think it's just bad genetics. The rest of the chickens are doing great.

Quick question about our resident broody, Dove. What we've been doing to deal with her is closing the night coop so she can't get in. We have a seperate coop which Hannah quickly figured out how to lay in(such a smart girl!). Dove has been hanging with the other chickens, but as soon as we open the door she goes straight in and sits where the nesting box used to be(we converted it into roost space recently.) There are no eggs and no nesting boxes. She hasn't been laying. I think she's just being typical Dove. She acts very healthy, if anything more spry than usual(she decided to roost in our apple trees, the place where the cool kids hang). Y'all think she's ok?

If you aren’t going to let her hatch eggs, she needs to be broken. Chickens can kill themselves trying to brood without eggs. Look up @aart ’s broody breaking method with a dog crate.

I hope not Ruby, it stinks rotten to lose girls but you know that.:hugsBea had horrible genetics, she came from a place with over 200 chickens and everybody was their own grandpa. She had a great life here and was spoiled rotten so I feel really good about that.

I hate wasting things on animals.....what so yall use the bon broth for??? I wish I could use everything on all animals we butcher.
I use it in place of water or milk in mashed potatoes, soups, steam veggies.. cook rice or beans in it.. simmer meats, and some people drink it straight. http://eatdrinkpaleo.com.au/15-delicious-ideas-for-how-to-use-bone-broth/

Why Bone Broths Are Good for You
Bone broths are extraordinarily rich in protein, and can be a source of minerals as well. Glycine supports the bodies detoxification process and is used in the synthesis of hemoglobin, bile salts and other naturally-occurring chemicals within the body. Glycine also supports digestion and the secretion of gastric acids. Proline, especially when paired with vitamin C, supports good skin health.

Bone broths are also rich in gelatin which may support skin health. Gelatin also support digestive health which is why it plays a critical role in the GAPS diet.

And, lastly, if you’ve ever wondering why chicken soup is good for a cold, there’s science behind that, too. Chicken broth inhibits neutrophil migration; that is, it helps mitigate the side effects of colds, flus and upper respiratory infections (read it here). Pretty cool, huh?
