:: heavy sigh ::
The birds are nutty this morning.
The hawks are hunting in the alley. They got a bunny while I was out checking on the screaming chickens.

I will be glad when the hawks move along.

Nunny, I am glad he has the strength to fight. :yesss:
Will he eat wet chicken feed? Mine go batty for it. Just thinking it's one way to make sure he's eating. He looked real spunky in the video......but seemed a bit stiff on his right leg. Not horribly stiff just a little. Like he strained the leg or something.

@pitbullmomma I somehow scuffed a knuckle removing carpet but managed not to really injure myself removing tack strips. I sat on one still attached to the floor while trying to pull the opposite side from a doorway.

I’d really like to know where people thought their carpet was going. Three little 2” pieces, each with 2 nails, around every door frame! Twenty 1/8” wide 1/2” long staples along the back of a closet to hold it down. Cause all the crap stuffed in the closet wouldn’t hold down the carpet just fine.

That's how Jackie was.. She'd sit on her hocks and limped.. eventually whatever her problem was healed, but since she recently lost another I wouldn't dismiss it as something else.

Ooooo That show sounds good. I need to remember those sites b/c we have the spectrum streaming thing, but I'm going to call and have it turned off so I can save $$ on my bill... looking at the next few month things are going to be tight.. my kids' dance fees are going to be pushing $200/ mo this year. If you have netflix, the new series Insatiable is pretty good, though towards the end of the series things get weird and might make some people uncomfortable.. but the crazy factor is turned to 10.
<if you need a life, I need one too.>

I especially liked the 'down to' part. I have 16 now and I can't even imagine adding another 100 to that.

Oh girl.

It's fabulous. I love free, pirating cable, and don't feel guilty about it at all. I pay enough for my Comcast.

Make sure, if you go on those sites, you install and have Adblock Plus running, else you will be inundated with tons of popups and annoying ads, mostly for Asian porn. Adblock is free and takes a second to download. It will take care of *all* your annoying ads. It is the bomb.

Sharp Objects is very dark. It is essentially a murder mystery, but so much more. But it deals with heavy subjects: cutting, suicide, alcoholism, mental illness (brought on by) parental abuse, child murders, madness in the deep South....it's crazy good. If you like stuff like that, which I do.

Anyway. There's my 2-minute Siskel and Ebert for the day. :)

She said...."DOO JUICE"......ahahahahahaha <insert Beavis cackle here>

Only a crazy chicken person would say this....and only, to her crazy chicken friends, would this sentence (and the math behind it) even make sense, lol!

^^ This is why I don't dare tell the count to the hubby. :lau

I might have to try Insatiable, after I finish Wentworth. :gig

And yes, I'm on the down-swing, trying to sell some, give some away, and get the broodies to stop hatching!! :lau

I noticed he sort of high steps when I first set him down and he starts walking. Like his legs are a little stiff. I’m terrible at figuring out which side a limp is on unless they are completely not using it. I’m definitely keeping an eye on him.

I hate saying it but I’ve had so much to do I’m just glad everyone has food and water. I even forget about myself sometimes. Speaking of—I’m off again! Maybe remove some wallpaper today.

You are certainly very very busy lately. :hugs

I had to watch the video a few times to pick up his wonky run as stiffness.

I forget how old he is....... He looks young. maybe joint swelling.....

I love adblock... I forget how great it is until I try to look at something on my phone. Everyone complains about BYC having ads, but I don't see them so it's strange seeing them on my phone.
I love movie reviews.. it's so hard to tell what's good or not just from the blurb. I've watched a few bad ones recently that looked like they'd be decent.

Yeah, I wasn't about to let Loki have any more babies. We have too many and she just looked so sad. Plus w/ my luck I'd get more boys which I do NOT need. I just made a post on here hoping someone will take one of my boys. If I don't get any takers I'll toss them in the local paper. We have this one called 'Good News' that comes in the mail. I was going to put a post on that one website, but it's for show birds and I can't vouch for my quality of these boys.

Hmm Is it possible that he could have landed funny coming down from the roost and hurt it? With Jackie, it was obvious. She'd take a step w/ her left leg and immediately go down when she put weight on her right leg, repeat. She moved pretty quickly, but she'd sit down when she was eating, rather than standing like everyone else.
& I know what you mean! That was my entire June. I felt so bad... but it wouldn't have been so bad if Loki didn't keep knocking over her water. Plus I didn't realize til one of you guys were talking about yeast issues that one of my eggers was having problems. A few weeks on ACV and she's doing much better, but her butt was so gross the feathers were black. Honestly, another may have been having problems too. I kept passing it off as her getting muddy from dusting. SMH. I really shouldn't be trusted to care for these things. IDK what I'm doing.

You guys, this is a funny rooster story that happened yesterday.

I had to throw the dreaded, obligatory annual summer barbecue for my (very strange, elderly, not-animal-loving) inlaws this weekend, who live near and very far. Which entails an entire weekend of cooking my azz off to make a bunch of delicious food that my weirdo inlaws won't eat (seriously--because we are Italian and it is the custom to make way too much food, and they like bland unseasoned food, which I refuse to make), and watching my hubby go crazy cleaning the house and fixing anything and everything in the house, painting trim, making the house perfect, doing crazy amounts of yardwork, and complaining and being in a bad mood.

Generally, I have to take Xanax and employ large amounts of alcohol to get through it. I hate it. They are not my people (you are. Would you all like to come over here and eat leftovers until you pass out? Cuz there are still tons of food. Seriously. My door is open).
This time, I skipped the Xanax, because it doesn't even stress me out any more, it just depresses me. I just drank, put on my fake/happy/vapid inlaw face, and tried to keep up on their awkward small talk and ignore the occasional judgemental, racist, sexist, and antisemitic remark while passing the hors-d'oeuvres.

Oh yeah! The rooster story! I digress. Did I mention I really, really hate this friggin' barbecue shindig, with the fiery passion of a thousand blazing suns?

So Weird-Ass Uncle Ray invites a stranger, his daughter (who happens to live close by) to drop by for coffee and dessert (she has been dying to meet me for years, why, I don't know). And, lucky me--she turns out to to be this wildly dressed, unconventional, hippie woman with big chunky jewelry who loves animals and does Tarot. Oh, joy! She is the only one who wants to see my chickens and dogs (who are locked up in their crates the entire day and night because the fam is all afraid of dogs).

Anyway, this chick Suzanne, she is wearing these billowing, fuschia-red, fabulous balloon pants (you crafty little chicken people, you see where this is going, don't you). I'm sure they cost alot of money--she is wicked stylish!--they are so cool.

She loves the chickens. I let her feed them mealworms. She holds Flower, my sweet girl, and smells the wonder that is a warm, happy-scented back of a chicken's neck goodness. She falls in love with chickens, after stroking my good orange girl for ten minutes or so. (who wouldn't?) And then, Negan, my little tiny Serama rooster struts over.

He looks at THOSE. PANTS! So red and fiery! and his little cockerel brain goes into overdrive. He puffs out his chest, lets loose a fierce err-errr- ERRR! tiny crow, and charges her pants. Like, WTF? He flies up in a puffy rage, again and again. I couldn't tell if he was mating her leg or trying to kill her. I had to run and intervene and grab him.

When it was all said and done, she had a good three-inch long tear in those beautiful, sexy red pants. Fortunately, she has a good sense of humor. Me, I was just like (again) WTF? I have never seen my chickens do anything like that. We figured it was a massive overload of RED, and rooster testosterone. Crazy, and made for one of my favorite parts of the entire day and night.

Now you beeyatches come over here and help me eat the mountains of spinach dip, potato salad, tomato salad, pizza dip, and booze that are piled up around me. It will be a good time. Just don't wear red.
