OMG that is so great!! Thanks you guys (Moly, Ron, everyone!)

I am very excited to see what comes out! If they are all black, have 4 toes or 5...silkie or AC or brahma or some mix. :) I will love them no matter what they are! I just hope there might be a lil Lafayette in one of them. :love

ETA: They both are moving now! DH actually caught the quiet one moving.

SO EXCITING. Like a tiny miracle. It never gets old!

:pop:pop:pop:pop

I absolutely love that your no chickens in the house hubby is the one who saw the egg move!
It means he is interested too!:celebrate

Hey peeps! This summer has been super crazy, but super fun, and I'm enjoying school so far. I won't be on here that frequently, because this year is going to be pretty important and I'll need to be really focused. The chickens are doing ok. A few weeks ago, a bear attacked 3 times, killing four chickens. The DEC are being taters and still haven't brought the bear trap they were supposed to bring two Mondays ago. @staceyj, nope! Still happily boyfriend-free! My brother's here at the high school this year. He stresses over everything, but I think he secretly likes it. I'm trying to convince my mom to let me get poison dart frogs, and am now considering going to the Air Force Academy when I graduate high school So that's the stuff in Ruby's life lately!
Ruby ! Baby! I’m so happy to hear about your summer and all your big plans, and your little brother ....
So you guys know I rehomed Evil Pippins....my bantam frizzled cochin that hated me. She would peck at me every time I went near her, and tried to peck my eye out once, she drew blood...

I felt bad about it because I've never rehomed an animal before, I always felt like once you take on an animal it is your responsibility for life....but she really did hate me!

Well, anyhow, I gave her to my friend Carol (she is great. She used to be my vet tech back in the day. And we had great times working together, and she would always say "you are such an ass." And I would reply, "That is Doctor Ass to you." And to this day, she calls me Dr. Ass, lol. I clickin' love her). And she said that that bird is so sweet I wouldn't believe it, and she is in love with her son. What the taters!!!

I mean, I am really glad! But dayum, all I ever did was hatch that fuzzy ball of spite and try to love her...! I guess chickens can be picky on who they choose to love. Who knew!:idunno

Anyways, I'm really glad she likes her new home. :D
...doctor assssss.....lololol

:jumpyGood morning!:jumpy

:jumpyOne baby just hatched, under its two moms! :jumpy :wee:wee

:jumpyI went out to let the chickens out, and Fergus and Olive were sharing the nest and I heard a soft peeping!!! I gently moved them aside and the little fuzzy black (!!!) baby was half out of its shell, and as I watched, it came fully out and the two mamas carefully tucked her under them! From what I could see, the other two eggs are still intact.:jumpy

:jumpyIt's raining and I had my headlamp on, so I couldn't see so great. But those feet are pink as could be. And there were four toes on the one I could see (I love newborn chick toes. They look like little worms). So obviously it is not pure Cemani--who knows what it is, so far!--but it is black. And my ACs are my only black birds. So it has to be part Lafayettte! It will be so exciting to see what they grow into!:jumpy

Congratulations!!! :woot That's so awesome!!!! Nothing like the joy of freshly hatched babies. Cant wait for pics.

First and foremost, anything going on with your eggs?
Secondly... Story time!
When I was a teenager my cousin who lived around the corner from us had a cat. She was the biggest fattest fluffiest thing that you would ever seen and one day she disappeared. The cousin's house was basically just a walk through a field away from us and the cat came to our house and had her kittens in our garage. We had no idea they were in there and they were at least two months old by the time we discovered them. The mother got hit by a car and we had to decide what to do with the four kittens she left behind. We kept one and named him Newport and he was the most wonderful fluffiest cat ever. My cousin's family took two of them and they were big fat and fluffy too. Once one of them sat on a lit candle and nobody realize until they saw that the cats butt was smoking. The last cat was a little ball of Pure Evil. To catch the cats we had to shut all of the doors to the garage and I had to stand perfectly still and wait for the kittens to become visible and then quickly grab them one by one. The first three weren't that bad but that little ball of hate was practically impossible to get. Then once I finally caught her she hissed and spit and scratched and bit. We ended up giving her to my dad's boss and he gave the monster to his granddaughter. They sent us a picture of her holding this kitten and it loved her. It never hurt her and let her do whatever she wanted to it. But that thing tried to kill me.
Oh wow! I loved this story!
My mom had a cat like that. “Holly” hated everyone but her. She was rarely ever seen by other humans. And only given sporadic health care by a traveling vet *if my mom could lock the cat in the bathroom on the morning of the appointment...
