Looking for suggestions......I've recently added a very large run to my existing coop and run. ( 32x18). Harware cloth on all sides and the top as well as a 16 inch apron all around. I'd like to cover a portion to keep out rain and snow. I'm thinking just clear tarps for this year but not sure how to attach them. I also bought several rolls of shade cloth/fence cloth to put up on all sides to keep out wind and snow this winter Anyo e else tried this? If so ...how well did it work?.Any suggestions on how to tarp the top....I cant really climb across the top to do it Here are some pics of progress over the last few weeks

For the clear tarps...... Using 1x2 furring strips screwed to the fencing works well.

The top......well that's a huge challenge......
pretty much anything on top that will keep snow out will get weighed down by it. It's very hard to clear too.

I made a roofed portion INSIDE my run. Most of the run still gets snow but they always have a dry space. It's not how I would have wanted things but it works ok.

I was actually thinking about doing it from the inside. Did you staple, bungee or hook? I was thinking if I used eye hooks and carabiners and do a slight teepee effect? How did you do it?

At just 40 it could be many things. I would gently encourage her to get a work up done. Hormones do weird things, may be just a bit out of the regular range. (Tried real hard NOT to say abnormal)

Is she recently under a lot of stress? Cuz stress can make your hair fall out, big time.

If not, I agree with others. Check thyroid.

Mornin ya'll!

Cool card video FNF. There's some creative engineering in that.

My Saturday started off pretty much like every other day..........
Hubby had every bit of the covers, Sable was licking the back of my knee, and the cat had her butt (yes her BUTT) on my pillow.
Good times, good times.

Anyone else scheduled for snow?
SNOW!!! Keep that weather to yourself.

Wow! I’m jealous. That looks fabulous. I know people use the clear roofing panels on the sides. I wonder if you could use them on the roof. Maybe add a 4x4 to the top of a support to raise one side a little.
Just brainstorming here.

That's the plan for long term....but if I spend anymore $ on this run this year, my DH will kill me. But I like the idea

My inside cover is from leftover metal roofing. Nothing special at all. Just leaned up at a 45° angle and secured to a 2x4 wire support board.
If making from scratch I would do it differently.
Think support, run off, access all around for you.
I had more than one hen end up on the wrong side of the roofing. PITA to get them out.

:goodpost:
Long term raising one end and getting some roofing above the existing is a great idea.
Just add some center supports too if using the plastic roofing.

OK, I just found the cheapest chicken diapers out there (ten bucks!). And they are cute.

Right??!!

So, did any of you guys ever get the Purina coop signs I just ordered? If so, do you like them? I can't wait to get mine!

I know, I really need to get a life. And a job (oh yeah! Just got one! It's solely to feed my sick chicken addiction, and the need to buy chicken-themed stuff that I totally don't need, lol)
