We got our competition schedule for next year. The kids are excited, we're going to Kalahari, which is an indoor water park for one of the events. It's in Sandusky which is only 1 1/2 hrs from here, but we'll probably stay Sat night in to Sunday so the kids can swim. Then Nationals are in Pigeon Forge, TN. We're def staying in a hotel this time.
Pigeon forge! Love it.

That's about 3 hours from me...
My child wanted to go to Nashville b/c she saw the Parthenon replica on TV.. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to go through Nashville, plus it's about 4 hrs out of our way. I'm hoping that of the 5 days the competition is, that she'll only be performing 1 day so we can go do stuff. I've always wanted to hit up the Aquarium in KY. Some people are going to see that Ark thing.. not sure if it's actually worth the $100 it'd cost for tickets, plus I don't do the religion thing so it'd be more to just see how huge it is and how it was made than anything else.

Any suggestions on things we should check out? I ordered the TN and Pigeon Forge travel guides. Since my kids will both *hopefully* be healthy this year I'm hoping to actually do stuff on this trip.

Yeah! Sandusky is where I live. I drive right past Kalahari twice a day Mon - Thurs on my way to and from work. You will love Kalahari!

I've been so focused on the farm, I haven't done much touristy stuff. The Oprey is an awesome experience, especially if you have backstage passes. And if you go to the Oprey, you'll want to stay at the Gaylord hotel. You can get lost in there and tons to see and do just at the hotel. The tree house is closed, you can visit Sargent York's place in Crossville, not really that exciting unless you get to chat with his family. Also you're pretty close to dollywood. Most of the stuff we do is right down the road in historic grandville, going to go see scarecrows tomorrow and check out their new diner.

We've been wanting to go for a really long time so it's nice that it can be part of something else that we HAVE to do. I don't swim, but both my kids love water way too much so I'm sure they'll have a blast.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind when we're planning. Someone I work w/ mentioned Dollywood, but my kids don't really like amusement parks. Crossville doesn't seem too far from where we'll be.

Morning all :frow

Sammy beautiful birds
For all the molters soooo sorry you're grumpy

chicky for pepper in bulk, checkout https://www.webstaurantstore.com/ you can get 5 pounds for less than 15 bucks.

Also, chicky when and where were you in Japan? I wouldn't even attempt Kanji now, but I wasn't bad back in the day when I lived there. Spent 3 years in Misawa, but traveled all over the country. Akido was my favorite.
Thanks for the link!

Jealous. I'm getting about 3-4 eggs from 11 girls + 2 pullets that aren't laying yet. Then there's those 2 HUGE boys who needs to go.

Oh, that poor girl. :( Don't you just want to cuddle them? You should submit her in the molting thread.

The ones I got are big and plastic, I triggered one just to see how strong it was and it's enough to snap a spine.. IF the damn things would step on it. Someone keeps tripping my old fashioned trap. My dad said to put the peanut butter UNDER the metal thingy so I did, and they STILL set it off, at the peanut butter and left. These things need to die. I love your idea! I'm going to try it out. I wonder if I could make a big square around the hole so no matter where they go there's a trap. Of course they could just dig a new exit, but my current set up w/ a trap by the hole isn't working well.

Do your neighbors have the skunk issue too? Find out what they're doing to drive them over to your place.

B/c their mama raised them right.

So pretty! They look like they're all dressed up for a fancy party.

I didn't know that was possible. Good to know! Personally, I like pinterest for saving stuff b/c I use multiple devices, but when I tried to pin it weird things happened.

Is this winter housing, or where they'll live forever?
How are you feeling? Did the swelling all go away? I hope you're feeling better.

Um.. is this a confession? Like that one comedian.. Secret Time!

She's so fluffy! What's a mini hen. I assume it's not the same as a bantam.. Is it like a dorking?

Some bigger stores, like walmart, have big containers of ground pepper. https://www.walmart.com/ip/McCormick-Pure-Ground-Black-Pepper-16-oz/51691163
But if you need A LOT RJ's 15 lbs would probably be much cheaper. Wear a mask or scarf if you aren't already... don't need a case of pepper lung. A seed spreader might help distribution too.

I did want to know! I love your stories.. well, everyone's stories.

She looks like you'd lose a finger if you tried to touch her. Molting is so sad. I imagine it feels like being horribly sick b/c it's so draining.

You are the bravest person I've ever known.

Ok so I have a complaint about Trunk or Treat. We spend our lives as parents telling kids Stay away from stranger's cars. If a stranger says they have candy in their car, run away! Stay away from anyone offering free candy from a car. THEN we take our kids to a parking lot filled with strangers. Then tell them to go up to each vehicle and get free candy from the strangers. I get the idea behind it, but it's really horrible when you think about it.

I thought it was oddly warm this morning too. Makes me kinda nervous b/c you know it isn't going to last.

I get oddly excited going to check my traps at night. I keep hoping to have killed something, but then they're empty, or worse, triggered.
The barn cage for the quail is temporary, i want to build flight cages later.
My face is so much better, hardly hurts at all. I took the last of the sutures out yesterday.
