Official Squatch Watchers

Think it might have been a mold or fungus on or in the food? Fruit and bread wouldn't do it, trust me on that one. I could see how an improperly handled high protein feed could possibly harbor some nasties. I wonder if botulism could thrive in it?:idunno
I'm wondering if some of my recent issues were feed related. Glayds still isn't walking. She can move her legs, she doesn't seem to want to. So typed in her symptoms and vitamin deficiencies came up. Started giving her poli-vysol. At this point why not....
I use feather fixer all the time and still get extra calcium on some eggs. They get treats but not as many since I moved and they didn't. Mostly healthy stuff. Fruit is a big one. Bread sometimes. It's not like I give them a loaf per bird.
Just scratching my head....

Was BS for sure! Bigger BS my Mom told his granny which was her sister I had bugs and she was all "oh J has bugs too!" They ended up making an outing together to get lice treatment, and even stopped for lunch! They did bring me home a happy meal, only fair since I was about to get my head combed off.

We get our feed from New Country Organics. My mom became a distributor for our region so I get a nice chunk off the retail price if I chip in for gas. My mom has other customers now. I don’t know how NCO would work for you in Illinois. They are located in VA. I know if someone in NC who gets his feed shipped in from them.
They have turkey feed and the place I am now going to is listed as a distributor... but they told me they couldn't get organic turkey feed... I need to show them and ask if they would order it for me.. thanks

No room to unload a semi here.

Great, now I have a bad case of the creepy-crawlies.
I feel for you Rae you've got kids and now those super lice exsist. Hopefully you either homeschool and become a hermit forbidding your kiddos to touch strange hats or have another boy so you can just buzz cut, wash all the bedding and call it a day.;)

That’s bull. If they get anything from NCO, they can get any of their products. They may not be willing to get it regularly because they aren’t asked for it. I would call NCO and talk to them about the distributor you use. If it is an issue of not wanting to carry a product, maybe you can offer to pay a certain percentage up front to guarantee to them that you will get it. My mom said that she talked to the guy at NCO and they aren’t pleased with distributors that don’t take special orders of their more unusual feeds.

@FlyingNunFarm , you may be on to something Nunny Hunny.
Botulism causing spores can remain dormant in contaminated soil for years and germinate into toxin producing bacteria when a suitable nutrient source and an anaerobic environment are available. The toxin can also be found in maggots and litter beetles that feed on infected carcasses. Botulism is usually more common in the warmer months.

Conditions that favour the growth of this organism are found in decaying carcasses, and other decaying plant and animal matter, and in stagnant pools contaminated by rotting animal or plant material. When birds eat material containing the toxin, and if the toxin's dose is high enough, the characteristic signs of botulism will occur. Keep in mind this only metions carrion but it thrives on protein, be it animal or vegetable. :caf
