Ugh, didn't he talk to you about it?
So here is where things get a bit more complicated. My dad does heating and ac for a living. So when he disconnected the old unit it was with "We thought you should get a new one before I retire while I can get it at cost." Ok great. Then when I mention to my mom the chicken coop is cooler inside then my house she asks why I don't turn on the air. I explain... and then she asks "Well have you saved any money?" Luckily that was in text cause the stream of explosives that came out of my mouth would not have been very nice to say to my mother.
As much as I love them and can't thank them enough for helping me buy a house I was very clear that I didn't think I could really afford this one. Their agreement of continuing help for the next several years was great...until moments like these. You are helping me pay my Bill's. How the TATER do you think I have money to save.

Nunny, this! You could put the drip hose in a pee bucket and the exhaust port out any house hole you can find.
It would work until your dad gets yours going.
Bonus, they kind of look like a robot. :Dhttps://www.lowes.com/pl/Portable-a...MIvqq-mMy64wIVh56fCh0OZQoOEAAYASAAEgJkDfD_BwE
I have a portable unit... all casement windows. Unless I duct tape the exhaust to the window screen it won't stay in a window. They are also big enough that it would be just sucking the exhaust right back in...

That makes it really hard.....all of that makes it hard.

Ok....maybe an idea.....ask dad to please hook the old unit back up so you have some way to cool the house while coming up with a way to afford a new unit.
 Maybe dad will be willing to at least do that. :fl

I've asked. He hasn't had the time I guess. I don't even know what a new unit would cost. Then the suggestion of do the ac and save and do the furnace before winter. Great...except no ac sucks, winter in OH with no furnace is a no.
I'm going to see what all I need to get it wired and ask if someone else can do it.
The whole thing just makes me sad.

Honestly it is insanely expensive.
When we had ours done :rant!
I had the ceiling torn out in the basement. They should have told me then that our ductwork was to small to handle ac.

We didn't go high end at all and 9 years ago it cost almost 6 grand for the furnace and ac.
I had the furnace reinstalled last fall (correctly) and the a.c. removed. The a.c. never worked....EVER.

I could rant about that but it's pointless.

My growth challenged frizzle is still growth challenged. It has 3 feathers growing out of the top of its head but still chick fuzz everywhere.

King Brutus (on the left) surveying his kingdom. 9 out of 10 times he's on top of the heat plate. If that's not a boy I'm not a crazy chicken lady!

I can see he has great drumsticks!

I have no advice to offer for AC or hear issues, we have a forced air wall heater and baseboards, and no AC at all. I'll leave the reasoning behind the method out cuz otherwise y'all are gonna :smack:smack:smack:smack:smack 20 years further in to global warming just to get even.

 Google Seattle weather, or just wait for that brief glimpse at the tiny little mild in the mostly hidden corner on the weather channel and HLN morning maps.

Ama gonna go hide with Ricardo and Luci, now.

Morning everyone.

Are any of you guys chickens starting to molt? Like not crazy or anything just an uptick in feather fallout.

No uptick in feather fallout here yet.

Poor Crooky still looks like a bad day at the punk rock hair salon.

It will be a week of scorcher days apparently. It makes it hard to get things done outside.
There are several plants that seem to really like it hot so I guess that's good.
