I am rather disappointed. There were no wasp nests at all in the dog house.

That leaves the neighbors yard as home base.

They very well may have a giant nest under their low setting deck.

I am thinking hubs desire for a deck just might end up being a concrete pad. :hmm

You can try a meat trap. Wasps go for protein so hang a hunk of meat in a bucket about 1 1/2” from soapy water. Spam works pretty good. The idea is when they come in for food as they go to leave they drop down from the food and into the water. Then drown. You can put a top on it to keep dogs and such out but make sure to put holes big enough for the wasps to get in. Daytime is when they are most active so you could always close it up at night to keep other predators from coming to investigate.

The dogs share the rooms with their hoomans, DD#3 shares with DD#4, and for now, Luci. Ricardo, unfortunately, did not survive. We knew this was a distinct possibility, we were just hoping it would go better. Basically, she was a failure to thrive and we did all we could. Luci will not be alone, we will be picking up a silkie on Tuesday that is the same age as Luci, which will be 11 days at that point. We'll be able to choose a healthy and rambunctious little butt munch.

I’m so sorry. You really gave her the best chance.

Those are the striped butt bastards! Those are what get in the coop and sting for no reason at all!
Iv'e got a can of foaming wasp spray down there, goos them to the nest so they can't revenge sting.:hmm
Thanks for the update.

I am really sorry she didn't make it.
I am also glad you are able to get a friend for her.

I think I figured out what kind of wasp I am dealing with.

The nasty things I sprayed out of mid air this afternoon match their description to a T.

Lizbeth isn't quite sure what to think, but at least she hasn't tried pecking Luci into being quiet. She mostly eyes her for a little bit and then goes back about her business. I'm hoping they get along without trying to plucked each other naked. Granted, nobody will freeze, but I don't need to buy stock in blukote.

Luci is demanding warm, dark sleep time. It's fine with me for now cuz DD#3 needs quiet for a bit while meds take effect. It sucks when you're young with chronic, invisible health issues, which is part of the reason she has Trixie.

Good gawd I am up very early again. :barnie

Hubs was out on a call and came home missing a good amount of flesh from his arm. He got mangled trying to unhook a wrecked car.
Deep enough that that section on the tattoo is completely missing.:sick
Cleaned it up, applied Neosporin generously, gauze pads and that stretchy wrap.
I am hoping that is enough to stave off infection.

I see a store run in my future for more neo and gauze.

Chicky, reading up on them nasty wasps I will be checking and spraying EVERYTHING with small tube like holes too.
The web pages I read about them and where they live ALL warn about aggression and painful stings. :hmm I think I know that part at least.

Morning folks :frow

Good morning! It is a zoo out there this morning! Bob is fighting other squirrels, both chicken boys are full of themselves too.
Lol, at least they're healthy and happy enough to be butts.
@21hens-incharge those dumb wasps build a paper nest like the red ones do here, pretty dang big too! I think they're worse jerks!
Ouch on the hubby boo boo too....put some blukote on him.:D
