You asked for help right away but dang those injuries are super bad.

Silly chickens are so secretive and tough, at first I had no idea how bad she was injured. I found her standing outside the coop, hungry and alert. DH offered her a couple blueberries and she scarfed em down. I thought we got really lucky and she was going to make it. It wasn’t until I got her inside and started examining her carefully and trimming away feathers that I saw how horrific the damage was. I am really gonna miss that sweet girl

They have an amazing ability to hide how truly injured or sick they are.
I am terribly sorry Chooky.

Many years ago before BYC I had to sew up an injured duck. Seriously my hands were shaking so bad. I cannot imagine how horrible finding an injury that bad was.

Even though it is sort of a grim time, i'll share something.
They all got the gift of sumo, tonight roost time was just half an hour of up and down.
