Your ladies look like my eggers, Olive & Damon. Damon is blonde and Olive is a redhead.. only way I can tell my girls apart.
Finally got a pic of the mutt roo. His coloring is amazing.

Looks part leghorn... though I could be wrong.. the head looks like my Odin.
I hate gift wrapping and I hate cards on gifts. To me, it just seems frivolous and a waste of money.
Same on the card front. I never buy cards unless someone dies and I'm trying to avoid talking about it.
I'm the oldest of 5. My mom used to wrap presents when we were younger but she HATES it (for similar reasons to Smuv, but she wasn't much good at it either. She had me wrap presents for a few years but when I was high school, I really didn't have the time so she gave up and started "bagging" them. It works. She uses the festive Marshalls and TJMaxx bags now which is nice and they are reusable. I love packing 6-7 extra on any trip I take for things like dirty clothes and odd stuff that didn't get packed in its proper bag.
My mom had me start helping wrap gifts when I was 12. Including my own. I still resent it. Then I was farmed out to help my aunt wrap gifts for her kids. I don't mind wrapping gifts & I'm pretty good at it, it's the whole point of having to wrap your own presents.
I can wrap gifts. I have a knack for it... but I cannot condone all the friggen WASTE! It drives me nuts!
List of Smuvs Holiday Pet Peeves:
1. Cards on gifts and gift wrapping
2. People who take their BABIES out trick or treating (please people, we KNOW it's YOU who eats the candy)
3. Unbuckled belts after T-giving meals. Dude, you KNOW your pants were too tight... wear sweats for everything holy!
4. Valentines Day (just why.... yeesh)
5. Wedding Anniversary Gifts from your kids... (it's YOUR marriage, not your kids)
6. BLACK FRIDAY!!!
Ok, I'll sit back and take my whuppin now... g'head.
And adults expecting gifts from their children. I get the I'm an adult and I buy a gift for my parents, but it should NEVER be expect that a CHILD have to go out and buy a gift for their parent. My ex expects and gets upset if our kids don't get him a present. My younger child was actually using her own money that she was given as birthday gifts to buy presents for her father. I told her that's bull and her step mother should be responsible for helping them provide their father with gifts. I also keep telling them I don't need gifts & I can buy my own. My younger one was going to buy me a coffee maker and her sister told me. I told her that if she buys me anything I was going to return it. (not a cheap $20 coffee maker, a Keurig. I have one. I don't need one. I told her the only acceptable gifts are coffee and nail polish.
I am mad my grandkids don't because DIL says it is lying to the kids
My brother did this w/ my nephew. I felt bad for him b/c I felt like he wasn't give the chance to be a kid. He never did the toothfairy thing either. Personally, for us, the Santa thing is more about letting kids be kids and believe in something fun. But I'm the same way about the toothfairy and the easter bunny. I went all out with the toothfairy. For each tooth they got 2 $1 bills folded as hearts. Each child lost 2 teeth in one day so that day they got a $5 bill folded as a heart. At the end of the run my youngest was writing notes to the toothfairy. It was really sweet. My oldest figured it out b/c her friends ruined it for her. She asked me if it was me and I told her yes and she cried. Not b/c she was upset that it was a lie but b/c she was upset that the magic of it was ruined. I had her promise not to tell her sister and she actually helped her with her notes. We have an elf on the shelf, Holly Jolly Christmas.. she sometimes leaves the kids treats while she's visiting. I know they know it's me. I deny it, but I think they like that I continue it. She was never used as a behavior modifier (hence the treats)... she is just fun. Both my kids had a substitute teacher tell them they were all too old for Santa and that it isn't real which annoyed me b/c no one should be allowed to ruin a kid's happiness.
I never believed in Santa, my grandmother wouldn’t “lie.” We never put up a Christmas Tree because “we don’t worship trees.” We also didn’t eat “scavengers.” It was a 7th Day type of church, something or another. I never pushed Santa on my child and didn’t make a big deal about it, hubby did more than me. I always wrapped Santa’s gifts in the same paper as I wrapped everything else, just to see if he would ever notice.
In my house Santa always has different paper and it has to have Santa on it. I'm certain my kids don't care nor do they notice... but I do it anyway b/c it makes me happy.
Maybe I could get a visitor's pass?! :: pops collar in a bad boy style :::
Let me know what day you're going and I'll get one too and we can all do lunch. I'm a non-believer (not going to get into it... I'm not a religion hater & don't belittle someone else's beliefs). We do Christmas, have a tree, have gifts, have a big dinner. It's less about religion to me and more about spending time w/ family/ friends.
I suppose i could make them and sell them once the weather gets nasty. Super easy to make, like little pillow cases with a casing around the edge for the draw strings. Sometimes i put bells on the end of the draw strings. You can use 2 squares and sew them together, with right sides together or fold in half inside out and sew the two sides up. If i get time i will make some with pictures for ya!
You could make pillow cases and use them as a bag too! Just instead of making the draw string just wrap a ribbon around the top.
OK so FINALLY caught up.
We don't do holidays either. We respect everyone right to do or not do as they choose to.
I got my puppy! I got the one I wanted!!!
We named her Sable.

Yup I'm not shrinking that one.
She has been to the vet this afternoon and got a clean bill of health. Fecal test results are pending until tomorrow.
Super sweet puppy! She is very people oriented. My other dogs are a bit to excited to meet her so spent the afternoon outside. Hubby will be home soon to help me with introductions.
Had to share my happy with you all.
Oh and she thinks my son is the bees knees. He actually laughed a bit today.
Your puppy is beautiful & the name is perfect!
I try so very hard to ignore Cappy... did she say something about a septic system or an auto waterer....!?!??
Welp, g'night to everyone who went to bed. Can't seem to get my head around going to bed. While moving furniture today for the damn TREE, I got caught and fell. Down on the left knee, and then on to the left hip. No bueno. I couldn't do a controlled *go limp* fall, as I was thisclose to DHs brand new 50" telly..... so I am currently in pain in weird places. Like, muscles I didn't know I have hurt.
Made the sausage stoup again. The only difference between the 2 pots was the broth (veggie broth in pot 1, chicken broth in pot 2), and we used raw kale in pot 1 and frozen spinach in pot 2. The tastes weren't terribly different, but then they were.... weird. They both were awesome though, and DH won't let me freeze any of this pot so he can eat it all!! lol
I'll post a recipe in a bit.
I'm going to clean out the *old* prefab coop so I can start moving any cockerels we have from these fresh batches of eggs and chicks. I'll also take better pics of the Nuggets so we can DEFINITELY determine that Holy IS a cock and Bean is a pullet.
Hey, so when SHOULD I separate a roo from the wimmin?!?
Why do you want to separate a roo? Is he getting too frisky or do you not want him fertilizing eggs?
Neither of my dogs alert to go out unless it’s an emergency. The chihuahua is happy to just go in the house.

My heeler just waits. It’s the strangest thing. She just has never done it.
Best dog ever.
Did y'all chickens stop laying really?
Mine slowed down a bit but all of them are still laying except the leghorn and GLW maybe it's a Texas thing.
Mine have slowed, but not by much. I'm getting 5-6 eggs a day where I was averaging 7-8 in October. I do supplement light, but I don't think it matters to them b/c 1/2 my birds are on the roost by 5:30 every night even though the light is on til 7:30.
