I got the razor out and shaved those plastic bumps down, which helped.

Our waterers are just 5 gallon food grade buckets we put nipples in ourselves.

We did vertical... but it was midsummer and we didn't think forward to winter.... so, we put some horizontal ones into the same buckets. Now, just waiting for the aquarium heaters!
