Official Squatch Watchers

Kinda weird but related.

I have been watching Homestead Rescue. They had an episode where the folks had access to "farm gas". No regulator and pressure issues. They took a big propane tank and used the gas well to fill it then supply the house from there.

I have absolutely no way of knowing if that is a viable thing. I just found it interesting.

Making a pork roast, TATER salad with bacon, collard greens, and maybe some rolls for dinner.
Huh, that is interesting. I'll have to see if I can find that episode. I'm not sure if storing the gas is allowed here though. It is something to look into.

My mom is making ham, mashed TATERS, and green beans for New Year's dinner.

Thanks. With an extra body, this gives me an even smaller sliver of bed and blankie to sleep with...... but I wouldn't change a thing! :D
When we were younger , hubby and i often shared a single bed! But i was a lot trimmer then.

So beloved squatchers, serious question (and I know you're gonna laugh but....)
How DO you catch a feral chicken??? More specifically, how do you catch 14 feral chickens?
I would try to get them used to eating near a building like a barn or coop. Then sprinkle food inside the door. Once they get in there, shut the door.

Just got home a little bit ago with 2 bunnies!:bun:bun

I would look for where they are roosting and try a night grab.

Rae, take MD in the bathroom for a steam treatment, it will help clear the junk out that is causing him to cough. The cough will be more productive. Do it about 15 mins after he wakes up in the morning, same thing after his main nap, and again about 45 mins before bed at night. 15 mins in the steam should be sufficient, and that gived 30 mins for everything to settle back to normal so it doesn't get congested as son add he lays down. The moisture thins the mucous and loosens it, sio you want the extra moisture to dry out before putting him down for the night, unless you have a humidifier running near his bed while he sleeps.

Thanks Cappy and 21! I am hoping I can lure at least some of them into my coop and run (some have snuck in there before to steal food) but it isn't very big... So to get all of them I would have to catch them in several small groups. Do you think they will all spook and not come back after the first group gets trapped???
They currently sleep in a big evergreen tree about 15 feet from my coop. The shape of the tree plus it's height will make it tough for me to reach them with my hands. Would there be some sort of grabbing device I could use to extend my reach??? BTW this is their tree. It is maybe 20 feet tall? They sleep high up and close to the trunk.

For context I should add that some of these lovely little squatch chickens have been living on my property for several years. We keep an eye on them and make sure they have food and water as well as letting them forage on our land and sleep in our trees. But the flock grew a lot this year and it is causing all kinds of problems. The last straw was last week when a little cockerel trapped one of my beloved ISA browns under the coop and badly bloodied her comb. I reached out on a local Facebook group and found two amazing ladies with big hearts, big flocks, and lots of land. We are meeting on Wednesday and they are adopting my entire squatch flock. I read Rae's thread on transporting chickens and got together everything I need for transport. I just need to catch all the little stinkers!!! :barnie
