Official Squatch Watchers

My only farm type are Gurtrude and Lizbeth. Gurtrude wishes our dirt wasn't broken, but tried to make it work anyhow.

Lizbeth is the gold laced banty cochin, Gurtrude is the Easter Egger.

We also have 2 keets, 3 dogs, 1 cat, 11 pet rats, a tree frog and assorted aquatics.

As you can see, the farm types don't live the typical farm life. The reason behind that is because we didn't plan on having chickens, Gurtrude chose us as her family. She walked in to our garage soaking wet last year in Oct. She hasn't wanted for anything since. Lizbeth came along because Gurtrude needed another fluffbutt to be with. They don't share a pen, but their pens are touching each other, and they are able to see each other all the time. They can even peck each other if they really want to, they just don't. If I kept them in the same pen, Lizbeth would be picked on continuously, since she's smaller, but they have kitchen time together, supervised.

They are good girls, and very people oriented, actually coming over to demand cuddles and attention. They definitely eat well, crickets and superworms, good feed and healthy treats (veggies and fruits). We get plenty of eggs, free insect control, and lots of confused looks when we take them with us to the park, drive through restaurants and pet stores.

I never planned to keep chickens, now I never plan to not have an indoor pair.
That's just incredibly sweet the thought of a soggy chicken wandering into your garage one day and you welcoming her into your home as a new friend and part of your family.

Maybe so, but it is inadvisable for the gluten intolerant *aka* this girl. Besides, I've been dealing with overproduction issues a lot. Although I have to stay away from peppermint because it decreases my supply and I end up with a fussy boy for a day.
Wow!
Peppermint??
Really?
I never knew that and I had 4 milk drinkers!

:lau I never saw a pig smile and i had 3 of them! I hear they can have tusks though, and may bite if threatened. So retreat may have been the best option. My pigs got out twice but i always found them. They sure respect electric fence!

I have to train mine to the electric wire... Will start that this weekend.

@rjohns39 how are the piggies? Bacon and ?? I forgot.

They are snuggled up together in their new house, as its 29* here. When I put them in the paddock last night it was so fun to watch and a bit sad. They've never seen grass before... They lived in an 8X8 shed for three of them. Now they're in an 8X40 paddock. Ham sleeps with his head on Bacon's rump.
