I got out my ironing board and decided it needs a new cover. Hobby lobby for the cording....of course I got more stuff.

I found pretty fabric on clearance that I will make bedroom drapes from. It is heavy enough to block the bright sun and machine washable.

No complicated sewing for me!

If my head rooster keeps being a jerk I may go down to only hens! He clearly has coop issues that I'm trying to work on. He's so nice to his girls. But that's where the problems come in. Tries to protect the coop and girls from me!

After I was handling a few girls to check them over her ran up behind me as I was leaving the coop. I chased his a$$ right back out. Not before a bit of a stand off/battle. Rotten boy!

I got feather fixer when Hubert the roo before Negan got hawked or foxed or catted I have no idea what he actually tangled with lol! But feather fixer is stanky! I'm glad I just got a little bag. Switched him to gamebird after it ran out. The girls or the little roo won't eat oyster shells, they will remove your fingers for egg shells.

I can't justify the cost for feather fixer. I put out the oyster shell, but I've noticed that they vastly prefer the egg shells. I think it's funny b/c they get all excited when they see the eggshells. Even my little bantam cockerel has gone in and take a beakfull of them b/c he saw everyone else getting excited for them.

Hi all! Back inside after messin with da chickies. Pic came out and *helped* ::: insert eyeroll emoji here::: KIDDING.... he helped a bunch. We went into town on Sunday and picked up totes, so we carried some down to our detached garage and put all the separate foods into them. Friggin mice have been having a FIELD DAY with the BOSS... and cracked corn... and wild bird food... and scratch grains..... and layer feed... I think you get the picture. Ha!

Cleaned out the main coop, washed and freshened the waterers, raked leaves. Even got some leaves in with Xena and the Nuggets... got some pics of them too... will be posting those over in Xena's thread.

I gave up trying to read the 20+ pages I missed over the weekend. But I did see this and I will say that my dad has one of these (probably a different model), but we used it to build our coop and it is AMAZING! It's really easy to use. My dad and I both have jacked up shoulders so it made it way easier to build than having to hammer everything in.

I'm a leftie and haven't built anything in my life, so a nail gun is definitely 100% needed here!

What music artist do you guys like?

80s alternative. I dig the recent upsurge in alt bands as well.... and then everything else EXCEPT hip hop and country.

It is so gross! There was only one option so that's what I got.



I feed feather fixer regularly. I have such a mixed age flock it was the middle of the road I settled on. I leave oyster shell out and give extra protein as needed or when I have it. They love salmon but I read mackerel was better.

Oh what I won't do for my feathered kids!

Try plain old flax seed, which I believe is all that feather fixer really is.

Just be warned that too much flax will put off a fishy smell in the eggs. Also, ground flax is more likely to be absorbed as whole flax tends to go in one end and exit without change in the other.

But whole flax seed can give them something to peck out when they're scratching their poops!

Sounds just like Odin. I had him out and then it started to rain so I let him in the main coop w/ all the ladies. Everything was fine for a little while as I finished working on his space, then he got a little too brave while my attention was diverted and he took a swing. I grabbed him and tossed him back into his space. I'd love to let him out, but he's such a turd. When I go to let them out in the morning he is inside even though he COULD go outside, doesn't want to leave the girls. Then after they're out he stays inside w/ me b/c apparently I need to be watched. Willy does that stuff too, but he's a pathetic nothing of a rooster so as long as my feet are covered he's not an issue.

Good afternoon peeps!

It's so nice to be hoe from work. I gathered my egg, took Big Bird inside and fed her some turkey and little ricotta, and snuggled her on my lap for a bit. She tried to peck my eye! Little fuzzy freak.

I love my chicken life. Gonna drink a beer and catch up. Hope y'all are doing well!

Grab him and hold him in one arm and hold his head down with your other hand. Let him know you are the boss!
