Official Squatch Watchers

We lean towards Buddhism here, so PIC knows Santa isn't a real person, but a sort of spiritual feeling that we should have all year long, not just at Xmas.

And we don't threaten to give back anything, just like we have never said he was GOOD or BAD... he has *good actions* and *bad actions*.

We base our spirituality and faith on The Golden Rule. I think that covers it all. :D
It would be a much better world if we all followed The Golden Rule

I was raised Catholic but we still believed in Santa and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy and because we were raised Catholic we did St Nicholas Day where we left a pair of shoes out on the front porch and in the morning they were filled with candy. I was lucky and had a very leave it to Beaver childhood. I didn't realize how lucky I was til I got older and saw the reality of how some children grew up. I am very grateful for having such a great upbringing and wonderful parents
That is the greatest gift you could EVER give your parents, just telling them that. I hope you do.

My parents didn't do Santa when we were kids. They told us about Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth fairy and told us they were pretend, like Big Bird. There were a couple of years that one or the other of us kids wanted to "pretend" Santa was real and my mom went all out and usually embarrassed us into saying "Mom, you're being silly".

I'm not going to do Santa for my kids either. I'm a Christian and someone once made the very good point to me that if a kid finds out you are lying about Santa, what are they going to think about God. Also, Santa is kind of a "works based" God and I want to teach my kids about grace.

As for keeping kids in line, my mom threatened to take our presents back to the store or donate them on a regular basis during the month of Dec.
So many good points here !
My kids got God and Santa and Grace and a healthy respect for other peoples beliefs. They're turning out to be loving, gracious, compassionate, and empathetic Adults.

All you have to do is read this thread and you realize that even though we were all raised differently, we are all loving caring, compassionate people who truly respect each other. We are all eager to help one another and along the way we all learn so much from each other too. We all basically want the same thing.....to be happy. I know having all of you makes me happy and makes me a better person.

Knowing I could meet you all in heaven would make me happy.

@Suzi18 I absolutely agree. I just want to be happy, and whenever I make a wish for the PIC, it is always ALWAYS that he will be happy.

@Chickassan I WISH our mailman was nice... but he's a jackass. He is SO LAZY, he won't deliver stuff up to our home that needs to be (like a pink bag full of saplings), rather he leaves them at our mailbox... on a *main-ish* road with NO speed limit..... and easy to steal (though that would be a surprise if someone did). Mailman would rather shove a package into the mailbox, and then rubber band it shut... I'm like REALLY?!?!?

Also at chickassan... every time I read your name, I read it Chick Assassin.... PLUS, when I tag your name, I type in chickenass and THEN your name pops up!!! :lau

@pitbullmomma If you lurking... any thoughts on why my cat is suddenly mute? He purrs fine but when he openes his mouth no sound comes out.
No raspy rattling when he breathes. I can't see or feel anything in his throat. I have a coal furnace so the house is rather dry. Have the humidifier going. Do cats get sore throats?
