Good morning, sweet Squatchers! We got a beautiful, glorious, wonderful snow day today...maybe 16 inches total of snow here in South Jersey! Two days in a row of no work/innermost circle of hell! (this threw a wrench in my handing-in-of-the-resignation-letter, which was supposed to be today. So I guess I'll have to reschedule till Monday).

It's 13 degrees here and sunny, with the wind chill it's -7. None of The Originals and The Babies came out of their coop. The Blacks came out for a minute, perched, and went right back in. Smart birds.

Lafayette has some serious looking frostbite on his BBC. I'm gonna catch him in a bit and slather him up with Vaseline.

Big Bird and Flower are toasty warm in their basement tiki hut. I'm gonna pull her out and examine her comb in a few.

Only 67 or so posts to catch up on! Love you guys! :caf

I seriously, canNOT think of a finer group of people I would rather spend my snow day with! :love

Morning Squatchers.
I ended up having to go to the ER yesterday. We had had the guy who was there before, when my brother was sick. This guy said he was fine.

He ended up having pneumonia.
He said my problem was a lack of humidity due to the wood stove. He recommended getting a humidifier and some plants to raise the humidity.
We already have a bunch of plants, multiple aquariums which lose water at an alarmingly fast rate, and a humidifier.
He said if I didn't have strep, I was fine.
Did the strep test.
Woopeeh, no strep. How exciting. Like that's what we thought it was.
Just in case, we put the humidifier in my room.
It worked very well. I was literally damp when I woke up.
I am feeling no better.
Uhg.

Sorry for my rant, I'm just feeling really yucky this morning and I'm pretty sure it isn't from a lack of humidity.

Hot soup, tea, steam treatments, good ole nyquil to ease the cough.

I despise doctors that dismiss the symptoms and act like there is nothing to do but be miserable for weeks on end.

Keep your fluids up and avoid dairy while you have that cough. No need to thicken the mucus.
:hugs

Rapid strep tests are notoriously wrong. If you're not better by Monday you might consider making an appt w/ your reg dr.

Good morning Squishy Squatchies. Hope everyone is having a glorious Friday!

Whatever everyone has, well, so do I. Something awful has settled into my chest.... and, before anyone ELSE says *Wow, Smuv, it seems like you're ALWAYS getting sick....*, I am not always getting sick... I just tend to hang ON to an original illness for a while because I don't give myself a chance to shake it off..... Instead of resting that extra day or 2, I get back to work... and never fully recover.

Going to do EVERYTHING Henny said above, and gonna eat a TON of soup. Breaking open my canned chicken bone broth for soup. Taking Musinex, Dayquil, Nyquil and going to start twice daily nebulizer treatments. I am just gonna FALL THE TATER OUT today through Sunday. I really need to get rid of this tater!

Now, please forgive me for not remembering, but WHO is doing the CBD Oil treatment with their dog and themselves? It's Sooz or Chookie or who?!? I want an update!!!

I am definitely gonna be hanging out here on the boards... but resting!! I promise. Really tired of being sick now... really tired of it....

:hugs to my Ruby baby...... poor sweetie... hate waking up MOIST!

Oh, update on Thirteen and Tiny. They are both currently in the incubator. I turned the bator DOWN to 95°F, since it looked like the 100° was too hard on them. DH didn't get home until LATE last night, so we couldn't put a mini brooder together for these 2. All 11 of the Taterholes are eating and drinking well. :D

Ha. I was gonna say that. But decided to let you be the inappropriate taterhead that did, lol!

Healing wishes to all the sickies out there! Me, been blowing out green and bloody dried snots the past week or two, but I feel fine, and attribute it to a lack of MOISTure in the air. Good time of year to fire up those taterin' humidifiers!

Jealous about your 13 degrees! I didn't even bother opening the door today and feel bad about it, but I know they wouldn't have gone out much..

Me too! My oldest was 2 when she was super sick. It was a Friday & I couldn't get her into her reg dr. Saw someone else in another office and he dismissed her symptoms (not eating or drinking, fever, lethargy) as the flu (despite no puking or diarrhea!) and sent us home w/ nothing. Sunday night she had a temp of 105. Called the after hours hotline and they said tepid bath w/ alcohol.. & call the dr in the am. In hindsight I think she thought I meant 100.5... also in hindsight I should have taken her to the er regardless of what the idiot nurse said or thought. Seriously, my daughter could have died. Called our dr the next morning (she was PISSED!) and they had us come in immediately. Sent her to the pediatric unit of the er to get tests done... they had a heck of a time getting any blood drawn b/c she was so dehydrated, 4 people to hold her down, her blood was black in the tube. Flu swab in the nose, urine sample. Strep swab. Her white count was so high they thought the results were wrong and retested and it was still super high. After 2 weeks on antibiotics it was still high & had to retest again after a month to make sure it was still going down. What caused all of this? An undiagnosed UTI... all that ignorant dr had to do was to actually LOOK at my daughter and LISTEN to me to realized she had a UTI... but he was too busy being a cocky tater to give a crap... I was just a paranoid young mother who was over reacting. After that my daughter learned to say 'Eat' b/c I had spent days trying to get her to eat anything and begging her to eat. She lost 5 lbs.. which is a lot when you only weigh 25 lbs. Before she got sick she knew all of her letters and numbers to 10. After she didn't recognized any of them. It still makes me mad. And not surprisingly it did make me a paranoid mother who over-reacts when her kids get sick/ hurt.. watching them suffer like that does that to you esp when it was totally unnecessary.

Take care ruby!
